“Have you ever tried Malabar spinach?

This gorgeous leafy green is not actually a true spinach, but it can be used in many of the same ways. It is rich in vitamins A and C and contains beneficial minerals, including calcium, magnesium and potassium.

The tender young leaves are delicious raw in salads and sandwiches. You can also sauté them with garlic, add them to eggs, stir-fries, soups, curries, beans and stews. Because the leaves have a naturally silky texture when cooked, they are also wonderful for thickening soups and sauces.

Our Malabar spinach is being grown and freshly harvested right here at the Anacostia High School greenhouse.

Come get yours while it is available and experience a fresh, flavorful green grown in the heart of our community!”
