Hello LeDroit Park Gardeners!

My name is Cassie Sodergren and I am a graduate student at the University of Maryland, getting my Master’s in Public Health. I am working on my thesis which is exploring the relationship between community gardens and food security in Washington, DC. I am looking to speak with community gardeners and community garden managers in the district. If you are a garden manager or gardener at the LeDroit Park community garden, I would love the opportunity to schedule an interview with you.

The interview may last anywhere from 30-60 minutes. Interviews will be conducted over Zoom and recorded. You can choose to have your video on or off, depending on what you are comfortable with having recorded. Audio recording is needed for interview analysis. All participants will be kept confidential. Sharing your knowledge, experiences, and thoughts will contribute to a base of information that could be useful for decision makers to meaningfully address food security in Washington, DC.

If you are interested in participating, please reach out to me at [email protected]. I will provide you with an information sheet, consent form, and a few interview times that you can choose from (you will only participate in one interview). Participants must be 18 years of age or older and any gardeners interested must participate in the community garden at least once a month during the gardens active seasons. I am more than happy to answer any questions anyone might have before making a decision.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

All the best,
Cassie Sodergren
I moved to Shaw and saw the garden for the first time today.
Curious - Are neighbors allowed to take herbs from it? Or do you need to contribute? Just curious how it works!
Good Morning Folks!

I hope you’re all staying safe during these unprecedented times. I wanted to post in the group as my partner and I have been on the waitlist for a plot for some time now. Although I know the waitlist is rather extensive, I was curious to see if the community garden plans to host classes and/or events while observing the necessary precautions around COVID.

My partner and I (Daniela Otxoa Diaz) live right next to the garden so we want to make sure we’re at the forefront of whatever is happening in our community.

We just came by maladroit Park community garden and just love it! How do I sign up to apply for a plot? Also I saw behind the shed there’s a lot of trellises and I was wondering where those available for free?

Great turnout for our spring cleanup!
Is it too late to get a small plot? I just moved and discovered this when we took our dog to the dog park.
