Since it’s St Brigid’s Day here are some pictures from our visit to an abandoned monastery that was dedicated to her. Exhacienda Santa Brigida was founded by Jesuits in San Luis de la Paz, Gto., MX about 500 years ago. It’s known for its furnaces (the semi-pyramidal structures) and for a gallery known as The Magic Arches.

One final addition to the house: I filled the spot above the back door with the version of Halley’s Comet from the Bayeux Tapestry. Its appearance in 1066 was seen as a bad omen for King Harold of England and was followed by the Norman invasion and conquest. The inscription translates roughly as “they marveled at the star”. The first time I heard of the tapestry and its comet was on “Cosmos” by Carl Sagan a million years ago. since my grandfather’s middle name was Hastings *and* me sister now lives in Hastings it seemed like an appropriate addition to my constellation.

Garden post:
The cold, damp weather in May stunted things a bit. Two plantings of beans failed. Overall a lot of growth but not much fruit. The Bloody Butcher corn has 0-1 ears per stalk instead of 1-2. I’m getting a half pound of green beans per week instead of the three pounds a week we got last time I grew them. And there are half as many squash as expected. Oh well. Good thing I know some farmers.

Despite the Trump regime’s “public safety surge” and occupation woodland creatures continue to roam freely, terrorizing the local populace. These three fawns just woke from a nap, reenergized and ready to continue their paths of destruction.
