At 6:53 AM this morning, the largest import in The Whiskey Lab's history cleared the Port of New York. 30+ new releases. Pre-cleared customs while still crossing the Atlantic. No barriers remaining.

On Monday we move into our new 7,000 square foot warehouse in Sterling, VA. We started in a 600 square foot garage that I convinced the state to license as a bonded warehouse. This is a big milestone.

Order fulfillment starts next week. If you have a pre-order in, it ships. The 10% discount on all new import items stays live through June 13. On June 14, standard pricing kicks in.

Six events in seventeen days starting June 1. UK Embassy for wounded veterans heading to the Cateran Yomp. Benash Liquors in NJ on June 4. Finn Thomson Whisky in Boston for the World Cup June 15 and 16 (The Haven & The Sea Hag Restaurant & Bar). The Philadelphia Whiskey Society - PWS on June 17. And then on June 18, I will take a breath.

That same day, this whisky was distilled. It spent 28 years in a bourbon cask, waiting.
On June 24, Scotland faces Brazil again, this time on American soil.

Three flagship releases from one of Scotland's most respected independent bottlers — a 25 year Ledaig from Tobermory, a 26 year Caperdonich from a distillery that no longer exists, and a 29 year Tamnavulin pulled from the blending vat and bottled as nature intended.

Some people will look at what you built and ask why.

Why Scotch? Why indie bottlers? Why not bourbon? Why not a distillery of your own? Why not something easier?

Because easier is a crowded room. Because the people who care about the difference between a refill bourbon hogshead and a first fill PX octave will travel for it. Because there are 150+ distilleries in Scotland and only a handful of importers paying attention to what comes out of them when an independent bottler gets their hands on a cask.

Build for who's listening, the doubters were never going to be customers anyway.

A new look for the new Whispering Waters Black Label.

We spent the last several months reworking the dress on this line. Vintage-style fluted glass that pulls light through the whisky in a way flat glass never could. A thicker, all-natural cap that feels right when you pour. Hand-finished black wax over the closure. None of this changes the liquid inside. The liquid is why we did it.

Burnside Black Label is open for preorder now. The hero release of the year drops Memorial Day weekend. We will share the full story closer to release.

The Whiskey Lab is veteran-owned, and imports exclusively from independent bottlers in Scotland. Memorial Day matters here, So does what we put on the shelf to mark it.
