CT residents take note. Land has always been the issue for farmers, but now it's more important to protect good producing land for FARMERS than ever before. So, do what you can. Look into CT Connecticut Farmland Trust or other local farmland specific protection agencies. Private Equity does not have farms in mind when investing in agricutural land, period, and solar and non farm development mean that land is lost for production forever.

Last Week At Orchard Stand, Opening At Homestead Nov. 28 - look for the rolling fruit stand in front of the Averill Homestead. We will have Apples, pears, cider, jams, honey, maple syrup and even some winter squash, and frozen donuts til they run out.....

As of Oct 24, all these varieties still picking, and more in the stand: Mutsu, Ida Red, Melrose, Rome, and Golden and Red Delicious apples plus Bosc Pears.

We have plenty of pumpkins either for Jack O Lanterns, eating or decoration plus squash of all sizes and colors.

AND! We are happy to inform you that Crepe Royale of the legendary Nutella crepes (plus many more both sweet and Savory will be on the from late morning on....

Come visit us this weekend, the fall foliage is peaking, weather forecast is great, and we will have a hot dog vendor on Saturday and Crepe Royale on Sunday, so make a plan to enjoy a day in the orchard without the hassle of packing a lunch.

Apple picking still going strong with many varieties to choose from, including Red and Golden Delicious, Rome, Ida Red, Liberty, Empire, Mutsu, Roxbury Russett, with scattered earlier varieties plus Bosc pears and even more in the stand with the Quince available there too!
