We are in the process of drying Oakley up and she is surprisingly she is taking it better then i am 😅(Lea). We will be enjoying the last gallons of milk we have in our fridge until we run out. Trying to make as much butter with the cream while we have it. I know the next few months will probably fly by but I can’t wait to get the fresh milk again. Somedays I don’t ever feel like milking but it’s all worth it in the end, the break will be very appreciated by both Oakley and me 💗.
The 93 day count down is on!

Getting this girl used to going into the station early 🙌. We are hoping to ai miss Magnolia in middle of next year. We are already training her to get used to station early and eat in there so she knows a routine when she has a baby. It should make it a lot easier on everybody 🤞. This sweet and spunky girl is just like a mini version of Oakley, We are hoping she will be a good little milker when the time comes!

We had an eventful evening yesterday. We got this “little” guy dropped off. He is a ten month old, now steer. We named him Oreo. He isn’t super friendly yet so Lea spent around 30ish minutes trying to gain his trust before she was able to get a halter on him. We brought him out to get banded because we do not need a bull 😅. Dean was able to band him and Lea gave him his tetanus shot and he of course had to get his head stuck in the forks of the tractor 🤦‍♀️. But this guy seems to be getting along with everyone else and fitting in perfectly!

First batch of mullein has gone in the dehydrator! I picked a huge amount today and not all of it will fit in one batch, oops 😅. Would anyone potentially be interested in buying some dried mullein after it is all processed? I figured I would put it out there if anyone is interested, we will have tons of it all throughout the summer.

Started a mullein garden today! One of our neighbors had a bunch of mullein growing on their yard that they didn’t want so I went and picked it, 25 plants total! I make lots of tincture’s with it, when anyone is coming down sick they always come to me asking for some 😆. Mullein is great for healing lungs from colds, pneumonia and lung related illnesses. They are anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antiviral properties, helping to break up congestion. Can be used to make teas and tinctures, oils and balms. They grow in rocky tree covered areas and you'll see them pop up in the spring time in Maine. In bloom you'll see some yellow flowers on their stem, the flowers can also be used for many different things!
