Waldingfield Farm

Waldingfield Farm Waldingfield Farm is a certified organic vegetable farm (Baysate Organic Certifiers) situated in the hills of Litchfield County, CT.

Since our inception in 1990, we have strived to grow delicious, healthy, vibrant produce through the use of environmentally responsible farming practices and techniques. The farm built its reputation on the legendary performance of our annual heirloom tomato crop, but we continue to grow an ever-expanding array of heirloom vegetables, as well . Our produce is available at our farm stand, through o

ur CSA program, at farmers markets, and at select retail and restaurant outlets. We also offer our farm’s food products at markets, the farm stand, and at select stores in the northeast.

We lost one of the great advocates for farming, for conservation, for being American. Today we are fewer. RIP Wendell Berry.

"The Silence"

Though the air is full of singing
my head is loud
with the labor of words.

Though the season is rich
with fruit, my tongue
hungers for the sweet of speech.

Though the beech is golden
I cannot stand beside it
mute, but must say

'It is golden,' while the leaves
stir and fall with a sound
that is not a name.

It is in the silence
that my hope is, and my aim.
A song whose lines

I cannot make or sing
sounds men's silence
like a root. Let me say

and not mourn: the world
lives in the death of speech
and sings there.

- Wendell Berry (8/5/1934 - 8/31/2026)

☀️ FINALLY! Mother Nature is on our side today and it's a beautiful day to shop local! Celebrate Connecticut Farmers Market Week by joining us this afternoon at the Newtown Farmers' Market!

🌿Governor Ned Lamont has proclaimed August 3–9 as Connecticut Farmers Market Week, recognizing the important role our local markets play in supporting farms, small businesses, and our communities.

🍞When you shop at a farmers market, you're getting fresh, locally grown produce and handcrafted foods you can trust while helping preserve local farmland, support family-owned businesses, and keep your dollars in the local economy.

🥕 Shop fresh organic produce, artisan breads and baked goods, local meats, honey, flowers, and handcrafted products from Connecticut farmers, bakers, and makers.

🎶 Enjoy live music by .chap while you shop!

Smoggy air filled with smoke. Not the easiest conditions to work in as we await the air to clear. Stay safe but don't forget to get to the markets this weekend (New Haven, Washington Depot, Brooklyn)! Tomatoes have hit, masses of cucumbers, scallions, salad greens and more will keep you cool over the weekend. We are also thinking of the brave souls fighting these fires to the north and west of us...
