TOPEKA SALE BOUND - OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS
We have consigned our 4 driving horses to Fall Topeka Sale on October 29th. Two 5 yr old geldings and two 2 yr old stallions. We have been driving these boys all summer long, showing at some county fairs and then finishing our show season at the World Clydesdale Show.
Shining Meadows Manhattan, 5 yr old Gelding, 18H2
Sire: Maplewood Danielle’s Lucas
Dam: Shining Meadows Autumn
Manhattan is broke single and double, used primarily on the wheel but can use be used in the lead. We drove him the past two years and he excelled in the cart. Winning numerous carts for us at County Fairs and placed 5th in the Registered Gelding Cart at the World Show. He has a huge motor and tremendous presence. He always drives with his head up and ears forward, he loves to drive. He can put you towards the top of the cart classes for years to come and fill a spot in a competitive hitch.
Shining Meadows Ryker, 5 yr old Gelding, 18H
Sire: Maplewood Danielle’s Lucas
Dam: Rain of Van Direst
Ryker is broke single and double and was used primarily in the lead but has also been used on the wheel. I’m sure he could handle the swing as well. We drove him the past two years and he has proven to be a steady driving horse. He acquired a new role this year, being a lady’s cart horse and junior cart/team for our 11yr old daughter. Would be a quality ladies cart horse or junior cart horse and a steady addition to a hitch.
Shining Meadows Ian, 2 yr old Stallion
Sire: Maplewood Danielle’s Lucas
Dam: Shining Meadows Ashleigh
Ian is broke single and double and was used in the lead last year and on the wheel this year. We drove him the past two years. We drove him in the stallion cart class in the World Show and he held his own against the mature stallions in the class. We also drove him the junior horse team with his half-brother Yankee. Huge potential with Ian as a stallion or geld him and drive him for years to come.
Shining Meadows Yankee, 2 yr old Stallion
Sire: Maplewood Danielle’s Lucas
Dam: Willow Way Layla
Yankee is broke single and double and was used exclusively in the lead. This was his first year driving and he really excelled. We drove him in the stallion cart class in the World Show and he held his own against the mature stallions in the class. We also drove him the junior horse team with his half-brother Ian. Yankee might have the most potential of the 4 we are selling, we have only been driving him this year and he has made huge strides in a short amount of time.
All four horses were used in a variety of classes at the World Show from carts up through the four, including the feed team race. Video from the show can be watched on the YouTube page from the association.
