Cow Calf Pair

A beautiful first calf heifer, she did a wonderful job for a first timer. No issue with calving, cleaned off her calf well, the calf was up and nursing very quickly. She has a great udder, with good suspension and teat size. Lyric has good body proportions and feet. She has proven to be an excellent mother and protective of her calf.
Lyric would be best suited for a larger/ range operation, where she can calve and raise her calf independently. She is not a friendly cow and not fond of people around her calf, she will protect her fresh calf if you get too close. That is why we are selling her. We are a small operation, and not a large acreage program. We prefer our animals friendly, able to touch and brush, and not be so protective, Just our preference. If she was friendly, we would absolutely keep her. She gets along with her cow peers normally, and fits in the middle of the pecking order.
We will be picky with where she goes, and must be to the right operation.
Her white bull calf has been banded, born 5/4/26.
Cow is open and will be ready for breeding season.

We had two bull calves born today, sticking with the AHCA letter year for 2026 “S” , but we wanted to do something Special for Star Wars Day.

Greener pastures!
We moved the main herd off their winter sacrifice area and onto the summer pastures! From now until fall, they will get daily moves with our rotational grazing system. It’s hard to beat cows on grass 😊 We always look forward to this day, and the cows love it too!

WKF Kittitas Breeze aka Delilah.
We had a break in the rain and I was out admiring this beautiful cow, as she posed for me. We are very happy she joined the farm this year.
She has good feet and udders, a beautiful head with lovely breed character and great genetics bred by Wakefield Farms.
Boy are we excited for the upcoming ai pairing for her this year! It will be a little bit of secret, at least until we know if she takes or not.
Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 for a 2027 calf.

Slow and steady. We go for low stress management if possible. Sure it takes a little longer to get everyone through the cattle chute, but the end result is happy calves. Calm cool and collected. We will keep the quiet wean paddles on the boys for several days, during which they get to stay by their mothers for the hardest part. This method takes longer, but reduces stress and eliminates the bawling. We will get them all back in the chute in a few days and remove the paddles.
