🧠✨ Can we talk about the mental load of clutter for a minute?
I share this with my clients ALL the time, and this recent episode of The Mel Robbins Podcast with Clea & Joanna from The Home Edit explains it so well.
Clutter isn’t just about how your house looks.
It takes up mental space.
It drains your energy.
It creates little “open tabs” in your brain.
And when you’re already trying to remember 47 things, adding “I need to deal with that pile” to the background noise can be enough to push you over the edge. 😵💫
And honestly… I’m not immune to this. ❤️
I’m a single mom with three boys. I run a business and a nonprofit. I have a million things going on. And just like the families I work with, I have seasons where the clutter gets ahead of me.
There are absolutely times when I walk into my own house and think, “Okay… we need to reset.” 😂
The systems I create for my clients are systems I created because I need them too.
I’ve learned that keeping up with the little daily things isn’t about having a perfectly clean house or being “good” at homemaking.
For me, it’s actually self-care.
When I keep the clutter piles down, my brain feels lighter. I can think more clearly. I’m more creative. I’m more patient. I have more capacity for my kids, my business, and the things I actually WANT to spend my energy on.
And when life gets really busy and I fall behind?
I have to remind myself that I don’t need to fix everything in one day. I just need to slow down, reset, and start maintaining the systems that help me function. 🤍
Especially with school starting back up after a busy summer, this feels extra important.
Because sometimes organizing isn’t about making your home Instagram-worthy.
Sometimes it’s about giving your brain somewhere to rest. 🫶🏼
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the clutter in your home, I hope you’ll listen to this episode. It reminded me of something I tell my clients all the time:
Your clutter is not a character flaw. And you don’t have to be perfect to deserve a home that supports you. ❤️
🎧 I’ll share the episode below because I think so many of you need to hear this one.
And if you need help creating systems that actually work for your REAL life, that’s exactly what I’m here for. 🏡✨
