It’s been a long busy week and I have some catching up to do! Sooo,
This is Terk, our broad breast bronze Turkey.
Terk is here growing up a bit more before joining us on the kitchen table for thanksgiving.
Turkey are my favorite poultry to raise, they have the funnest personalities, and are almost like puppies. Terk will follow us around, sneaking into feed bags, poking people in the butt, pretty much anything fro a treat. Broad breasted breed turkeys are generally butchered between 16 and 20 weeks, and weigh roughly 18-30lbs for females and toms 30-50.
Terk free ranges a lot, eats any scraps he can get his beak around but his main diet consists of Turkey grower, and barley that he steals from goats.
Up next are my goaty girls,
Icee is our oldest at almost 2 years old, she is currently in milk and milks about 2 quarts a day.
She is an alpine/saneen dairy mix, and has really turned into a sweet girl.
We also have her daughter who was born around Memorial Day this may, Penelope has been dame raised and isn’t super friendly, but likes treats.
Penelope is alpine/saneen/angora and will hopefully be bred early this spring.
Anna is our Nigerian dwarf she’s roughly 18m old and is a sugar bug 💗 Anna keeps Penelope company when icee is separated for milking.
We are hoping for ND babies this summer as well.
Their main diet here is local delta hay, alfalfa pellets and some barley. Icee gets additional feed while milking which is a mix of pellets, and grain for milking she has access to this while milking, and while I clean up for some additional calories since making milk takes alot out of their bodies!
These girls also have a dry vitamin mix available at all times, which they eat when they need it.
Shoot me any questions you have! 💗
