It’s much nicer with the green leaves. “Rebuilding” is becoming less of a possibility/reality and I’m on to rethinking what I absolutely need to have in the future, post Mom care.

Old school garden trick, but still works well. Keep your tools sharpe, clean, and rust proof! 👀👇

What You Need:
- A 3-gallon bucket
- 3 gallons of sand
- 1/2 quart of oil

How To Use The Sand And Oil Method:
- Fill your bucket up with sand and pour motor oil on top.
- Use a hand trowel or small tool to mix the sand and oil.
- Continuously plunge your dirty tool in and out until clean.
- Tap your tool against the bucket and brush it off to remove leftover sand.

How It Works:
The coarse sand scrapes away at dirt particles on the tool with the added bonus of sharpening the edges. The sand can then be wiped off much more easily than stuck-on soil. While the sand cleans and sharpens, the oil protects the metal, preventing rusting.

Your bucket of sand and oil isn't only good for a single use. It can clean tools over and over again to keep them in pristine condition.

Edit: within an hour of posting this I got over 70 comments all recommending me to contact one of two websites supposedly for getting money back. Lots of the posts were the same names with the same posts. Looks to me like scammers trying to take advantage of someone who has posted about being scammed. Sigh

I just experienced a scam call claiming I had missed jury duty and have warrants for my arrest. The call was from an unidentified number. When he got to the part about a cash bond I called him on it and he transferred me to a call where I could see the number and it had a tag for municipal law enforcement administration. I typed the number into my browser, just because, and it came up with two articles about that number being used in identity scams back in 2020.

In case you get a call: 1(907)786-8900 is the number he was using.

If you get a call from an unidentified number claiming to be anything official at all, it’s a scam.

Thank you! Every dollar makes the new barn a little less imaginary to me. Wind and temperatures, and my own lack of respect for my physical limitations, have slowed the cleanup progress this week, but the mess isn’t going anywhere and we’ll get back to it as soon as we can. Plans have been made!

The photos: My current hay storage. The pickup holds 15 “square” bales out of the weather, and is a simple feeding station, too, that the goats are happy to use. The trash cans are feed storage. It works better with some kind of roof over them due to snow melt and rain being able to leak in through the lid handle attachment places. Oh well! Not really a problem right now! I tied the lids on because the goats know how to get them off, and wind…
