We are out sourcing for our LFPA customers and our market shoppers today. Maple Bank Farm in Roxbury has some of the best potatoes around and these Kennebecs are coming back to Waterbury today so our LFPA customers can enjoy them as much as we do. We will have them at the market on the Green Thursday too. 🥔🥔🥔🥔

Dropped off some fresh picks from our farm just in time for Hopeville Church's pantry distribution day. These gorgeous greens were grown in Waterbury and harvested yesterday morning. Thanks to United Way's Stock the Pantry giving event, Hopeville Church was able to purchase fresh food for this week's giveaway. 🥬

There are other ways to shop if you can't make our market. Order a farm bag on our website and we will pack up a farmer's choice of what's in season. We have great feedback from our customers who choose this option, and it's like a mini CSA full of weekly surprises.

We hustled around today to gather food for distribution and sales this week. These peaches come from Sunset Farm in Naugatuck and Milford, and our LFPA customers will receive them Wednesday. So many terrific farms are available to us, and keeping local is our mission. We will continue to support them so our customers and community can know their food source.

Ground beef from a LOCAL source will@be moved into the community next week. Our trusted farm partner Kalenauskas Farm & Market supplied us with almost 300 pounds of grass-fed beef from their Watertown farm, which is run by the family's 3rd and 4th generations.

Thanks to the state department of agriculture's LFPA grant, we will deliver to two organizations that serve food insecure populations. Another four organizations will receive 60 pounds each for their communities through United Way Greater Waterbury's Stock the Pantry funds made available to Brass City Harvest. These community partnerships are so valuable for many reasons. We can purchase fresh, local product from CT farms, increase fresh food access to a larger population and support growers who work tirelessly to maintain safe growing practices.
