Having a hard time putting my thoughts into words at the moment and typing it has taken me a couple of days to do but I wanted to try and keep those who love the farm and what we stand for, in the loop. As many of you know, last year we brought home a gentle giant, rescued from the kill pen/auction. Archie has been a blessing from moment one and he has captured all of our hearts and those who have spent time with him. Even the sub-mail carrier loved him and would talk about him every time she delivered something to our home. He is an amazing boy. He has battled a long standing issue that was present before he came to be with us and although we have tried all the meds and therapies and done what we could for him, his body keeps failing him. He rallied for quite a few months but has had a very bad report from the vet as of a couple of days ago. So In a couple of days we are going to have to say goodbye to Mr. Archie and obviously we are heartbroken. Especially having just lost Classy a few weeks ago. She was very old and we expected it soon but Archie is only 14 so we thought we had so much more time. We know we offer a sanctuary for rescues and we know this is part of it, but some just hit harder than others. Please know we have spent hundreds, if not thousands, trying to get him healthy and although he is SUCH a fighter, his body is worn out. I know we've done everything we can but it never feels like enough. We and so many of the kids and people who have visited and loved on him will miss him terribly. Some of these kids feel like they need to be rescued and interacting with a rescued animal who shows them love and kindness is everything. ❤️
