Heritage Homestead Simple, Natural & Back to the Basics. Sharing our knowledge of sensitive skincare, and farm goods. They often just sting, leaving the skin more irritated.

Our small family business was born from the need to find a way to help improve the skin health of our two youngest children. They both navigate life with many food allergies, asthma, and severe eczema. We had spent years trying all the hypoallergenic over-the-counter moisturizers with little to no improvement. With a combined 20-year background in healthcare and cosmetology, this Mama got to work!

What is tallow? Tallow is put simply rendered animal fat, most commonly from beef. It contains all the same vitamins, minerals and healthy fats that our skin has, making it the most biologically compatible with us. It truly is a super skin food! I source my suet from a local butcher and process it to produce my own tallow for all the skincare products I make, for the highest quality possible. We found that the beef tallow skincare products I was making were gentle, soothing, and a game changer when added to their skincare routine. They do not fix the eczema, but where the MOST helpful and moisturizing for them. We started selling our skincare 3 years ago to help others with super sensitive skin, and to help bring back the use of tallow! We began selling at 1 market per week, and now you can find us at 33 stores throughout the states. Our logo is a heritage breed turkey, which I get questions about often! It simply stands for traditional ways and ingredients. Which is fitting since tallow has been used since ancient times but was left behind during the industrial revolution when goods became mass produced for as cheap as possible and ingredient quality has continually become poorer ever since. It truly is a family business! Each jar of lotion is hand piped, each soap hand cut, and all formulated simply and with purpose. All the kids help in various ways including labeling, marketing, sorting, and helping at events and farmers markets throughout the year. The best part is hearing from a customer that their skin or their child's skin has improved! It's just close to my heart, because I have been THAT parent before. Searching and trying anything to help make their baby's skin a "little happier". We also produce small amounts of organically grown garlic, lamb and poultry meat on our tiny farm.

A little tallow education for today! 🐄🤎

Ever open your tallow balm or body butter and notice it feels a little gritty? Don’t worry — it’s completely normal!

Tallow can become grainy when it cools too quickly or doesn’t cool at the same rate as the oils it’s blended with. This can be a little more noticeable in products made without an emulsifier, since we’re allowing the natural properties of the tallow and oils to shine through.

Temperature changes during shipping or even in your home can also cause it.

It doesn’t mean your product has gone bad or that anything is wrong with it — it’s just one of the quirks of working with natural ingredients! 🤎

And sometimes… tallow just does what tallow wants. 😂

It’s here! 🤎 Our Vanilla Chai candle has officially arrived!

There’s just something about this scent that feels like fall at home—warm chai spices and those quiet evenings when the days start getting a little shorter. 🍂🕯️

As summer winds down and we head back into our busy schedules, I’m ready for all the cozy little moments that come with fall.

Hand-poured in small batches right here in Maine. 🤎

Vanilla Chai is available now on our website!

Just picked up our Maine-sourced beeswax, and I’m officially in candle-making mode! 🤎🐝
These beautiful blocks of beeswax are headed for the first batch of candles we’ll be bringing to the Common Ground Fair. I’m starting with one of my favorite cozy scents: Vanilla Chai.

There’s something pretty special about taking locally sourced Maine beeswax and turning it into something warm, useful, and made with care.

🌿 “What can I use on my face?”
It’s one of the questions I hear most often at the farmers market, and my answer is always one of our tallow creams in the glass jars. 💛

Made with a simple blend of our house-rendered, grass-fed tallow and organic olive oil, these creams are a beautiful, simple way to nourish your skin naturally.

A little goes a long way, so you only need a small amount. With regular use, you may even find your skin needs less as it becomes accustomed to this rich, moisturizing care.

It’s one of my favorite simple skincare staples 🌱
