Late last night I came across a video by a guy expressing his views about the cattle Industry and why even with record prices beef cattle populations aren’t growing in numbers like they should be. He expressed the view that maybe cattlemen have been selectively breeding for carcass at the detriment of good mothering, fertility and feet. He had valid points and his reasons made alot of sense and had a huge amount of supportive comments which is hard to find on most popular social media posts. The traits he mentioned were likely missing in alot of cow herds are traits that we have always prioritized. We’ve culled many females who would be cream crop to someone else because they didnt fit these very standards of mothering ability, fertility, and feet among a few other traits Important to us like phenotype, docility and udder quality.
This cow for example has been serving us well her whole life.
Till-Hill Corn Zirconia with her current heifer calf Till-Hill Purple by her side sired by SS Oscar.
She’s a 2017 model and raising another beautiful calf. As she has done every year for us. Her son Till-Hill NahNah N750 is currently for sale. He’s covering our small group of cows currently and big enough for mature ladies. He’s PB Simmental, Hetero black homo polled sired by JSUL Something About Mary 8421. His growth has been extreme but my favorite thing he offers is what his mama brings to the table. If you’re in the market and want to take a look just give us a call. We are always happy to go look and talk cows!
