Let me tell you about this buck!

A home breeding of Rello (Boberta+Reno) & Burrata (BĆ©chamel + MO’Zarella)

Monger was first proven in May, siring litters with Memory Lane, Ca$h Cow & BƩchamel.
Now in June, he has litters confirmed with HervĆØ 6/6, No BS 6/12, Rello 6/14, Mimolette 6/24 & MO’Bettah 6/24.

These are the last kits of the summer, we will be breeding again in September/October.

June is Dairy Month!

I’ll let you in on a little secret…..
I’ve stopped drinking my cows milk and now exclusively drink my sheep’s milk🫣
It’s a real superfood.
Sheep’s milk is always A2, it’s higher in fat and protein, boasts a massive trace mineral profile including selenium and zinc, and is naturally homogenized.
Everyone wants to know what sheep’s milk tastes like and the only way I can describe it is like melted ice cream. It’s by far the best drinking milk I’ve consumed.

Plus, checkout that creamline!?
Sheep butter is on the make menu this week!

Any sheep milkmaids out there?

Do you know what I miss most about early 2000s social media?
The shares were just a glimpse into someone’s life.
A compilation of raw photographs, without the detailed post.
A nice flower.
A candid of a meal.
A landscape.
Your pet.

Just every once in awhile.
No 3 second attention span reels.
No bickering comment section.
No need to show up online daily.

We need more of that….

The heaviest squash on record weighed 2,200 lb and was grown by Joe Jutras (USA), as verified by the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth at the SNGPG Frerichs Farm Weigh-Off in Warren, Rhode Island, USA, on 11 October 2025.

The squash, grown from a "920 Jutras" Atlantic Giant mother seed, had a circumference of 227 inches/18 ft 11 inches and a stem-to-blossom measurement of 118 inches/9 ft 10 inches.

This boarling arrived wanting to be known.
So much so that I reserved him as breeding boar at just a few days old.
The piglets are officially two weeks old tomorrow!
Keeping with the pumpkin and squash theme, please say HI to Jutras!

I’ve been milking my two Jersey cows for over a year.
I make butter from their cream daily.
If you had to guess; how many pounds of butter do I have in my freezer?

June is Dairy month. So here is a butter factoid; in just one tablespoon, butter packs 100 calories, 11 grams of healthy fat and over 400 types of fatty acids. Butter is 80% fat and the rest is mostly water.

I will admit, this season, I’ve planted the garden more of my design than my father’s.

Have you ever met an old Frenchmen?

Yes the rows are measured and straight with a stringer line, but I was able to talk him into planting a row of seed on each side of the string, not just down the middle.
I also was able to convince him that we should move crop placement, so the cabbages and peppers aren’t in the same spot four years straight.
We also are going to try weaving our tomatoes with twine, not just stakes and cages.
And finally, trellising the cucumbers so we get more garden space and hanging fruits to pick. The Plumber even got in on this row!

This doesn’t seem like much to most, but to the seasoned senior gardener, it’s a huge change.

I’ll either be silently praised or I’ll never hear the end of my failures….

June is National Dairy Month

And today is World Milk Day!

We will be sharing raw milk education all month, from our homestead and other farms producing dairy.

JERSEYS HAVE ALL THE EXTRAS
Their milk averages 13% more protein and 16% more calcium than your average milk, resulting in a richer-tasting, more nutritious product. The A2 protein gene found in most Jersey milk also makes it easier to digest!
Raw milk contain lactase, an enzyme that allows our bodies to digest milk.
Milk. Cheeses. Butter. Yogurt. Whey.

I didn’t choose the dairy life, the dairy life chose mešŸ’›

If you are a producer, share below and I’ll make sure to feature you this month!

Rabbit. Rabbit. Rabbit

Yesterday we welcomed a new ram lamb.
Petals & Pines Flower and Farm had these gorgeous Clun Forest born this spring. We each needed new breeding genetics, so we swapped ram lambs.

I. Am. In. Love!

He came with the name Tzatziki which is super fitting but I’m keeping my flock S names, so meet Sauce!
