Remember the time we blinked and it’s already the end of July?! How does that even happen?

Sorry we’ve been a little quiet over here—in true summer fashion, we’ve been running around, doing all of the things, and trying to make some memories along the way.

We celebrated a very special boy turning 2 last month. 🎉 It has been such a joy getting to experience the world through his little eyes—and we’ve been trying to soak that up as much as we can.

We’ve also been doing all of the other summer things—fencing, moving animals pasture to pasture, and most recently—haying. 🌾

We’ve been down to Hettinger to spend some time with Whitney’s family over the 4th. We’ve been around town at various events. And we even spent a little time with some friends at the fair this last week.

We hope your summer is as fulfilling and fun as ours and you’re taking some time to soak it all in, too!

Now that the dust has settled a bit, we want to take a moment to thank our amazing customers for coming near and far to spend the afternoon with us. Our customers are truly some of the best around and we are beyond thankful for your trust in our program and support year after year. For those who are new—we are beyond grateful that you are taking a chance on us to add to your operation.

We are fairly fresh to the seed stock scene, but each year brings new ideas, progress, and more direction.

Tomorrow is the big day and we figured we had better give the ladies some love! We have a group of 30 home raised, top end, commercial replacement heifers. They are out of our own commercial cows and are born the end of April out on grass. They are bangs vaccinated, had their first round of breeding vaccine, given Noromectin Injectable, poured with Clean Up II, and guaranteed open and breedable. On March 7th the group as a whole averaged 849 lbs. We will take an updated weight on the group tomorrow morning and will announce that from the Auction Block. Give us a shout if you have any questions on the heifers or bulls.

It’s SALE week! 🎉

Let’s highlight Lot 2 ⬇️

Lot 2 is another one that has been a standout since he was born. He is a lot like our lot 1 bull in the way he is built. He has a big middle with nice rib shape and stands on an excellent set of dark feet. His dam is a moderate framed cow with a beautiful udder. She is a daughter out of PIE Quarterback 789 who has over 1500 registered progeny in the Red Angus data base. The females out of this bull will be outstanding and the sons will be stout with lots of power.

Over the next few days we are gonna highlight a few lots in our sale.

Lot 1 has been a bull we have been watching since birth. He is a natural calf out of our 8066 donor we bought from Barenthsen/Bullinger Red Angus in 2019. This guy has flat performed in every way possible. He had our number one weaning weight, our biggest yearling weight, number one ribeye area, and had an IMF ratio of 113! He is an all around bull that can go anywhere. He is correct made, stands on a real nice set of feet, and has a great disposition. If you need a bull that can make some stout bulls or heavy feeder steers don’t miss him on sale day. His females will be super fancy and you’ll want to keep every single one.

Sale week is only a couple of weeks away—What better time to get to know your hosts?! ⬇️⬇️

Blake was born and raised in Watford City, ND. He is a fourth-generation rancher and has been around cattle, farming, and agriculture his entire life.

I (Whitney) was born and raised in Hettinger, ND. I wasn't raised within a ranching background, as our family ranch had been sold a few generations before, but I did grow up in a small-town, rural community where farming and ranching played an integral role.

After coming home from college, Blake decided to step further into agriculture and take on seed-stock production, commercial cow-calf, and heifer development. Over the the last couple of years, we have created "Missouri River Red Angus"--the official name for all of our business endeavors.

We chose "Missouri River Red Angus" as our business name because the river is near and dear to us as individuals. We recently built our dream home right alongside the river, and our cattle also run along 9 miles of the river--so we wanted to incorporate this very special water source into our name.

Our goal here at MRRA is to be progressive with genetics while focusing on cattle that are functional as well as phenotypically correct. Creating cattle that are right for you and your operation will continue to be number one.
