Growing up, Megan Clark never imagined taking over the family dairy farm. But today, she couldn't imagine life any other way. Megan, along with her sister Ashley, own and operate Godfrey Dairy Farm in Madison, Georgia. Her father, Dave, started the dairy over 40 years ago with just 200 cows. Megan came back to the farm after college to help manage the bookkeeping, and watched the farm grow into a modern dairy facility milking over 1,000 cows. In 2019, Megan and Ashley inherited the farm and have continued to grow the operation. She and Asley value raising their families on the farm and the lifestyle it provides.

For Troy Yoder and his family, dairy farming is a way of life. He’s a third generation dairyman and has spent the past 25 years operating Tramilda Holsteins in Montezuma, Georgia. Troy and his wife, Matilda, have raised their seven children on the farm, and it’s been rewarding to have the family grow up together on the farm. From everyone working together during silage season and making memories that last a lifetime, to raising award-winning show cows, the Yoder family works together to make the operation a success.

Have you ever wondered where you can buy milk and dairy products that come from Georgia dairy farms? If so, you’re in luck because chances are your neighborhood grocery store carries milk that is sourced from a Georgia dairy farm. Nearly every major grocery store in Georgia, along with many popular brands, source milk from Georgia dairy farmers. Georgia is home to three commercial milk processing plants which bottle milk for Kroger, Publix, and Walmart throughout the Southeast. Processing plants in neighboring states rely on milk from Georgia dairies too. Mayfield Dairy, TG Lee, PET, and more use Georgia milk for their products.

There are also several farms and local creameries in Georgia that process their own milk/dairy products like , , , , , and .

Did you know that Georgia is the leading milk-producing state in the Southeast with over 2 billion pounds of milk produced and $3.99 Billion in direct economic impact generated in 2025? Each dairy cow in Georgia helps generate over $46,000 for the local economy each year. Georgia is also one of the fastest-growing states in the country for milk production (~8% growth in 2025). We’re also home to commercial milk processing facilities for Kroger, Publix, and Walmart. This June Dairy Month we celebrate the impact our dairy farms have on Georgia’s economy.

Back by popular demand, this June Dairy Month we are showcasing more of our Georgia dairy farmers through a Farmer Monday series. Stay tuned each Monday this month to meet a Georgia dairy farm family.

This week's Farmer Monday spotlight is the Graft Family. Adam Graft grew up in Atlanta, GA but spent his summers on his grandfather's dairy farm in Ohio. Jane (Coble) Graft grew up working on her family's dairy farm in Simpsonville, SC. After receiving his DVM degree from the University of Georgia, Adam moved to California where he practiced veterinary medicine on several local dairies while running his own 300-cow dairy farm. After being introduced to Adam by her sister-in-law, Jane eventually moved to California to keep the books and milk cows at Adam's dairy. Adam and Jane moved back to Georgia in 2005 to begin their own operation. After renting a dairy in Barnesville, GA for a few years, in 2008 the Grafts had the opportunity to move to Americus and purchase their own dairy, Leatherbrook Holsteins. Starting with 300 cows, Adam has expanded the operation by implementing progressive and sustainable practices. Along with operating the farm, Adam also serves as Vice-President of the Georgia Milk Producers Board of Directors, helping shape the future for Georgia’s dairy industry.
