For all you parents with Youth Hunters!
IDNR invites youth hunters to participate in the youth firearm deer hunt Oct. 10-12 at Mazonia-Braidwood State Fish and Wildlife Area.
To participate, applicants must mail a letter with the hunter’s and guardian’s names, address, email address and phone number to the site superintendent at Mazonia State Fish and Wildlife Area, P.O. Box 126, Braceville IL 60407. The deadline to apply is Aug. 29.
A random drawing will be held, and successful applicants will be contacted and provided with site rules, regulations and maps. Participants will be required to purchase a youth firearm deer permit from an over-the-counter vendor.
The youth firearm deer hunting season is open only to hunters who have not reached their 18th birthday by Oct. 10, the opening day of the 2026 season. For more information, call the site office at 815-237-0063.
