Realizing I forgot to post from last WRC April show with Julianna, Peyton, Shannon, Piper, Rachel, and Desi. Our third and final show here at WRC.

Congratulations Peyton and Piper riding Champagne Alley. Per my recollection, Peyton recieved Grand Champ in both Long Stirrup and Crossrail Hunter. Piper received a second in a big WT division.

Congratulations Rachel and Vocab, occasionally Cabernet. Rachel received Reserve Champion in Long Stirrup.

Congratulations Autum and Blank Chex. First horse show for Autum and she received two thirds in a very large Walk Trot class.

Congratulations Desi and Golden Opportunity. Good ribbons in Long Stirrup and Crossrail Division with great progress from Kiki.

Congratulations Shannon and Stradivari MHF. First time out for this young horse, ribboned well, and was a total good boy!

Congratulations Katelyn and Mocha Latte. Top ribbons, a first in over fences, in a competitive Long Stirrup and Crossrail Division.

Had a ton of fun despite the newborn fog. Grateful for my clients, horses, and all of the help I've received. Couldn't have done it without your patience and grace.

Big thank you to our assistant trainer, Elivia Hecker, for taking the girls out, and keeping the horses in shape, as I recover from childbirth.

The most underrated safety aid in jumping isn’t a body protector. It’s the mane!

Holding the mane:
– keeps you with the horse
– keeps you out of your horse's way when jumping
– removes pressure from the mouth
– stops the panic grab
– stabilises you in surprises
– prevents 90% of avoidable falls

And no, it’s not β€œcheating.”
It’s smart riding!

Practice holding on to your horse's mane the last couple of strides before the jump and over the fence, it will change your life!

🐴 Trotting Fences

Many horses and riders dislike trotting fences... and for a legitimate reason! Because it can require even more patience to trot a fence than it does to canter one! And since we are never *required* to trot a fence in the Eventing world, it is common for riders to decide that they don't need to spend a lot of time working on this skill.

Trotting fences, especially bigger ones, is a lot like eating your veggies... you may not especially like them at that moment, but they are good for you!
