Five years at 28 2nd Street have passed in the blink of an eye. We are so grateful for a journey where every single day felt like a new lesson and a chance to grow.
Our story is a long one, woven together with flour and a lot of faith. It started in 2015 with a home-baking permit and a dream Lacey called ‘Girlie’s Scones.’ But the true heart of the partnership took shape during our days as Corralitos Coffeehouse. That little shop was where Lacey and Greg’s vision truly aligned—where we realized that coffee and flour were just the tools we used to build what we really wanted: community.
Taking the leap from the cozy hills of Corralitos to the heart of downtown Watsonville to open Craft Bakeshop was a journey. It was scary, it was risky, and it was a labor of pure love. We wanted to create a ‘hidden gem’ where everyone felt at home, and seeing you all fill this space with laughter and conversation for the last five years has been the greatest reward. We’ve seen first dates happen at our tables, students study for finals over lattes, and families make our pastries a Saturday tradition. You’ve turned these four walls into a home.
As we celebrate this 5-year milestone, we aren’t just celebrating a business—we’re celebrating the ‘blood, sweat, and tears’ that built a dream and the community that kept it alive.
Whether you’ve been buying Lacey’s scones since her home-kitchen days, followed us down the road from the coffeehouse, or just discovered your first Strawberry Capital Latte last week—thank you.
Thank you for five incredible years of letting us be a small part of your mornings, your celebrations, and your lives.
We love you, Watsonville.❤️
