Get in the St. Patrick's Day spirit with this easy recipe for Corned Beef and Cabbage featuring our own, house-brined corned beef brisket.

Ingredients:

4-6 lb. Old Station Craft Meats corned beef
3 cups beef stock
1 can dark beer
6 bay leaves
16 peppercorns
2 tbsp course ground mustard
3 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
2 carrots (roughly chopped)
4 cloves garlic (minced or smashed)
1 onion (sliced pole to pole)
1 small head of cabbage (roughly chopped)
1 small bag of baby red potatoes

Directions:

- Combine all ingredients, except cabbage and potatoes, in large crock pot and cook for 6-8 hours on high heat

- Remove meat, slice, and remove excess fat

- Return meat to crock pot, add cabbage and potatoes, and cook for an additional hour (or until potatoes are tender)

- Serve in bowls with sliced corned beef, cabbage, onions, potatoes, and broth

Did you know that our building is over 100 years old? Some of the oldest photos we've obtained are from the building's history as a Plymouth car dealership and filling/service station. That piece of history was the inspiration for our name - OLD STATION Craft Meats. During renovation, we even discovered some 1950's cardboard advertisements that had been hidden away in the ceiling. These are all on display in Old Station as we seek to honor our history and continue to serve our Waukee community where we live. Keep an eye out for more stories from our journey...

Old Station Craft Meats began as an idea for two brothers to connect their shared passion for cooking and eating meat with their occupational interests. One brother, a cattleman, and the other, a businessman decided to combine their passions and skillsets into a specialty meat market. The concept was solidified with the addition of a Master Butcher who brought decades of experience into the mix. Our passion for meat connected us and our hope is that Old Station Meats is a means to connect others, as well.

Our goal is to bring together a community of carnivores to share conversations of food discovery. Regardless the topic, the best place to start a conversation is around a table for a meal.
