I have tried to write this at least 10 times.

For those of you that have been around since the beginning y’all know that I truly believe the Lord called me to be home with my kids almost 2 years ago. And I have truly seen the fruit of obiedience in that decision.

So when I break the hard news to y’all that I sold both Cash and Carrie and even my horse Bones, I hope you can understand why I felt the need to be obidient yet again.

It honestly has been a struggle for me to not have a job- to feel like I’m not “providing” and putting in the work for my family. And somehow the farm felt like I was doing my part and fulfilling my purpose. But again, I heard the gentle whispers of God reminding me that my children ARE my purpose right now. And he so graciously made a way for them to be my #1 focus and priority. A true blessing that I never want to take for granted.

I love my farm. I love being outside with my cows in the pasture. It truly is my slice of heaven on earth and the place where I feel most at peace. But it became very clear that I was loosing focus of why God called me home. And my new found hobby was really starting to interfere with my family time in the same way my career as a nurse practitioner did. And I believe that was the exact reason God allowed me to be home full time with them. So that I didn’t have an unnecessary wedge. And I hope you can see this for what it is. A true struggle of pride where I wrestled with God about the need to “work” in order to be successful. (I could write a whole other post on that)

So my posts here won’t be frequent. But I still get plenty of cow lovings and time in my pasture- it’s just not my main focus right now. My family is. And what a blessing it is to get to give them all of my attention in this precious season.

Truth be told I’ve been waiting on Mammie to have a calf since the day she arrived at August Oaks Farm- almost 8 months ago.

I have more pictures on my phone of Mammies “business” than I care to admit. Ive asked 8000 questions to anyone that would listen. I’ve worked myself into a state of anxiety laying in bed at night during a storm worried if she would be ok.

God often times has us in periods of waiting. Whether it’s for a spouse, a promotion, a child, a good doctors report, whatever it may be that we are waiting for.

But I think the question is- how do we spend the time waiting?

Is it full of anxiety? Or fear? Just plain worry.
Do we allow the enemy to plant these seeds while we wait on a promise from God?

Or do we spend the time with thanksgiving, gratefulness, and joy? What if we truly enjoyed the journey and didn’t just live on edge until we got to “that moment”?

As I walked to the pasture yesterday, I really felt the Holy Spirit convict me. How have I spent this time waiting for Mammie to calf?

I’ll tell you- I’ve ran every worse case scenario through my head. Will Mammie or the calf die? What if I’m not home and she needs me? What if the calf doesn’t latch? Heck, what if this calf comes out looking like Chewbacca? (If there is a worry- I’ve rehearsed it in my mind and then bugged Babe about it 😂)

But what if I just enjoyed where I was at? What if while I waited for the calf to come I just enjoyed the unbelievable blessing I’m living in every day with all of my animals on this beautiful farm. And instead of worrying or obsessing over what’s to come- I stopped to thank God for what has already has?

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 (While this verse is referring to Christ’s return- I think we can apply it to seasons of waiting) God is not slow in keeping His promise. He is the one that made the schedule to begin with, so he surely he isn’t late. Instead, God keeps every promise at the perfect time to bring Him glory and for the good of those He loves. So why would I want something sooner than what he has planned 🤷🏼‍♀️

I encourage you (and myself) to rejoice in the waiting- because he has promised us his timing is perfect. And in due season we shall reap 🤍

Honey got her hair did.

2 things:

1. I wish there was live footage of me getting this done

2. It was very similar to how things go when trying to fix Stella’s hair in the mornings 😑

I was talking to a friend yesterday about some things that happened in my past. It was a pretty deep conversation and stirred up some memories and honestly some emotions.

I snapped this picture this morning while feeding the animals with Jax. And it made me stop and think about how thankful I am for the unanswered prayers. For the heartbreaks. For the poor decisions. For the failed plans. For the detours and road blocks. For all those times I thought God wasn’t listening or didn’t care. For the times he seemed silent.

I couldn’t possibly put into words the thankfulness I have when looking back, and how he worked all things together for good.

He knew I would be standing in a pasture with my 4 year old son feeding cows on a cool, March morning. And He knew all of those things from my past would only make me appreciate these moments more.

I encourage you to look back 5, 10, 20 years and reflect on the faithfulness of God in your life. I’m sure you too can thank him for an unanswered prayer ?!?

This is from Jax’s show and tell a few weeks ago.

He took his rope for letter “R”. And let me tell you, his head barely fit in my car when I picked him up that day.

I hope this video brightens your Monday. And I hope you will have the confidence Jax does in whatever God has called you to do!
