J.D. SEARS FARMS, INC

originated in 2006, after John’s father passed away. As a family, John, Denise, Barbara Anne and Jacob Sears began a grain farm operation on approximately 500 acres for 10 years in South Solon, Ohio. In these 10 years, our family worked very hard in producing grain and raising a few beef. The Sears’ children began the project of raising beef in 4-H and this is how the beef industry all began for t

he J.D. John was raised with 50-100 head of beef cattle when he was younger and Denise was raised on a 100 head sow, farrow to finish operation. As the years went on, the production of beef and pork prices decreased drastically allowing both of our families to sell out of the operations. Barbara Anne and Jacob decided to bring the production of beef back to the farm in the next generation. They started their own herd from scratch and grew it to 20 head of beef over the years. Sears Farms, Inc felt it was time to sell the grain operation and purchase 50 acres in Waverly, Ohio. Our farm is composed of pastures, two ½ acre ponds and 10 acres of naturally habituated woods. John and Denise moved the family to these beautiful and peaceful acres to expand the beef production. But like everything else, life got in the way. The kids went to college and developed their own lives. John and I decided to downsize the herd due to our full time jobs and could not keep up with the responsibilities. Now, Barbara Anne and Jacob are settled in marriage and their professions and waiting to expand the herd as a family business once again. J.D. Sears Farms, Inc has the freedom allowed by our great country to be able to proceed with our family goals. The freedoms of the right to choose, the capability to work towards achievements and the right to conquer all goals are the backbone of our family farm and this gives us the strength to develop a great relationship with our customers. The family farm wants to develop a satisfied and returning customer to purchase a high quality grass fed beef product produced by J.D.
