SUPER excited about babies this year! It only took a little over 2 years to get the pens together that I wanted! 😅😍🐥🐣 Polish pens are now White Crested / Blue Smooth Roo over WC Blue Frizzle hens and Cuckoo Smooth Roo over Cuckoo Frizzle hens! Smooth hens pictured have flown to new coops, but these are some of their babies! Pictures of the most recent hatches and parents of the kids in the incubators! 🐣

5 years of selectively breeding and hatching were wiped out in 30 minutes yesterday afternoon by a coyote. We lost all 7 of these beautiful breeders and 2 babies. These chickens were more like pets, and we are so very sad. We will definitely not have chicks for Christmas and are still deciding if we will start over with silkies again. 💔

Our ducks are laying, and we are loving it! Duck eggs have a different texture from chicken eggs so we don't like to eat them by themselves, but they are great for baking and making ice cream! (They are also nutritionally different - duck eggs are higher in fat, protein, and especially cholesterol but also higher in vitamins, especially B12!) We are getting a quart of milk a day from our goat Mustard! We have been making ice cream and will be making soaps and cheese again soon! 🥰
