The keeper pen of ewe lambs. Just love this group of little ladies!
Breeders of Registered and Commercial Katahdin Sheep. Raising all-around English Shepherds, excellent for farm or family. Hello,
Welcome to our farm page!
We have raised hair sheep since 2013, and ventured into registered Katahdin's in 2016. Our goal is to produce excellent quality, colorful sheep. We will not sacrifice quality for color! We have both registered ewes and commercial. Our rams are both registered. Thank you for following our page! We'd love to talk about sheep with anyone interested! Sarah, Cara, and Hannah Niesen

The keeper pen of ewe lambs. Just love this group of little ladies!
Weaned the January/February lambs today and gave their second dose of CDT. So very pleased with all these babies and how well they're growing!
A couple of my favorite lambs born in January and early February. Hoping to get better photos soon. Weaning day is Saturday!
The lambs are growing up quickly! Hitting the creep feeder, and we’re very happy with them! Some really nice ewe lambs with beautiful conformation and nice thick bodies.
The yearlings are all bagging up and getting closer, due the end of March and into April.
Tagged and vaccinated the late January-February babies today. They're all doing really well, nice healthy babies!
Some of our babies so far! All nice healthy babies. Have a couple stragglers of the mature ewes to lamb, and then the yearling should start towards the end of March.
Very happy to announce that Brandon is back home! We sold him as a 2 year old a couple years back to a small farm. Their ewes are all related to him now, so after trading our red ram, Brandon is back! We put him with a group of the younger yearling ewes who were exposed in November for just 30 days. If any aren’t bred, hopefully they’re cycling still and will have summer lambs.
I am very pleased to say, that we have begun doing a full disease panel on our sheep, and after the first full round of testing, our sheep are clear of OPP, CL, Johnes, and Q-Fever! We will continue to test our flock, as well as quarantining and testing any new additions so we can remain tested and disease free!
Lambing 2022 has started! 6 healthy ewe lambs to kick it off, and this lineup of ladies are ready to go in the next 1-3 weeks!
Fall weather is here, and it's been beautiful! Most of the girls are bred for late January/early February lambs. Haven't gotten to the back field with the camera to get photos of Beamer and Denali, but Bryce and his girls are all fat and sassy on grass.
Our new ram Bryce, and his group of ewes. He's in with 15 of our thickest built and easiest keeping ewes, and two January ewe lambs. We're very excited to see the lambs out of these girls, they should be thick, parasite resistant, and easy keepers!
The young pen of girls, who aren't old enough to go with the rams. They'll end up being bred in November/December at the same time as the ewes who are lambing in October. Four of them are homebreds, one is a March ewe lamb from the Shultz's, and the other is a February lamb from David and Jane Smith.
The ewes are all looking great, and gaining weight on all this lush summer grass. Very much looking forward to some Fall lambs out of a couple of these girls. Breeding season is coming soon!

Last but not least is the youngest ewe lamb we're keeping this year. A late March registered twin out of a first time ewe. I'm looking forward to watching this girl grow, I think she's going to end up pretty nice! She'll go to the fair with the others, mainly so she ends up tame and easy to handle.
Diamond, a February twin out of our fancy Fall ewe from the Shultz's, and sired by our nice white ram. She's owned by Cara, and is quite the pretty package. I am excited to see how she'll do at the fair, but even more-so looking forward to seeing how she produces for us!
Felicity, late January triplet ewe lamb. She is a very dark brown badger, one of the strangest colors I've seen! Sired by the Shultz Badger ram, and her dam was one of our best producing black/white ewes. She'll be shown at the fair in July.
Cranberry and Mulberry are February twin ewe lambs. Out of a yearling ewe and sired by the Badger ram from Henry and Becky Shultz. They are recorded at 75%. Very fancy little girls, and cute as can be! Hannah and Stephanie will each be showing one of these girls in the commercial class at the county fair.
Posey, another late January ewe lamb. Pictures don't do this lady justice, she's a thick, wide, and beautifully put together lamb. Recorded at 75%. She comes from one of our original ewe lines, that have been very productive and excellent milk producers. She is her dams first ewe lamb that I have kept, and I am thrilled with how she is turning out. She'll be shown by Hannah (17) at the county Fair.
Sidney, one of our late January 75% recorded ewe lambs. Her dam is one of the smallest ewes we own, but she throws big growthy lambs that make excellent ewes, and this girl is another example of that! We don't have a scale, so no exact weight, but shes around 90-100 pounds. She'll by shown by her owner, Stephanie (14), at our County Fair in July.
January 2021 Triplet Ram lamb. This guy has grown really well, we're very pleased! His dam was one of our best producers, always throwing nice growthy rams, and heavy milking ewes.
My 3 replacement ewe lambs for this year. 2 recorded and one registered. We’ll see how they grow over the summer, but I love all 3!
My favorite ram lamb this year. He’s really well built and flashy to go with it!
A couple of my favorite lambs from this year. So glad the weather has been beautiful and sunny. Spring is on its way!
Some of the newest lambs. All is going well so far this year, so we are blessed and thankful! Most of the girls are having twins, with just a couple singles thrown in. We're just about even on our ewe/ram ratio, but everybody is healthy, so that's the most important part!
The first wave of lambing is over, 4 more late next week, and then a break for about 3 weeks, when the majority of the girls will lamb. Very happy with the lambs our white ram produced, nice thick healthy babies. Bad photos, the weather hasn't been great, so they've all been in the barn with the doors shut to keep it warmer.
These sweet girls are our October 2020 ewe lambs that we are keeping as replacements. They are all sired by a nice Dorper ram, and will be used in our commercial flock. They're nice stout girls, and cute as can be!
It's been a while, so I figured it was time for an update. Spent the morning cleaning out the barn for lambing, so we kicked these girls outside to give us room to work. They enjoyed their icy frolic! This group are mostly bred for early-mid February lambs, except for a few ewe lambs due later on. We have a group of 10 ewe due starting the 16th, they're all big, fat, and looking great. Let the fun begin!

Our Fall lambing ewes are just about done. All were bred to a Dorper ram for crossbred lambs. We have 1 more ewe to go, she should lamb next week. The others had a single, a set of triplets, and a set of very big twins.
Ravine just wants this pregnancy over with. Hopefully soon!
I am excited to announce that we will be having registered English Shepherd puppies due on September 5th and 10th. I had been planning a Ravine/Gizmo litter since last Fall. However, due to a miscommunication when company showed up unexpectedly, Mesa is also expecting puppies sired by Gizmo. All three dogs are negative for all diseases able to be tested for. Gizmo has excellent hip scores, Mesa has good hip scores, and Ravine has not yet been tested. These puppies will be excellent companions, farm helpers, and agility/sport dogs. Contact me for further information, I will be happy to answer any questions!
Spent the evening getting the ewes all separated into their breeding groups! Very excited for breeding season to begin! Thankful for all the rain, sure makes for good grass!
I love this little boy. He's a single out of a yearling ewe. He is just under 2 months, and is 100% grass fed. He is from the first lamb crop of my white ram, I just had 3 ewes bred to him that lambed in May.
Bathed the last group of the ewe's the girls are showing today. It's always fun to see what is under all the dirt! These girls were all pulled up out of the pasture, they haven't had any feed since they were 60 days old.

Brandon and his group of ewes. Enjoying the last bit of Fall grass, before they come up to the barns for winter. Lambing should begin in January, and I’m excited to see what we end up with!
