Another Blue Roof Cabin project coming together! 🔨🏡

These interior doors started out as plain unfinished wood, and now they’re fully stained, finished, and installed.

We used Minwax PolyShades Gloss Antique Walnut, and I’ve got to say… they turned out even better than I hoped. The warm wood tone looks awesome against the rustic walls, and the black hardware really finishes them off.

It’s always fun seeing something go from raw material to a finished part of the cabin. Definitely a lot of work, but moments like this make it worth it.

What do you think — good call going with the stained wood look?

More pictures tomorrow as the casing and stops go on.

🚪 Another transformation at the Blue Roof Cabin! 🏡🔨

From unfinished wood to stained, finished, and installed!

We’ve been working on our interior doors, and I wanted to show the difference a little stain, polyurethane, and some patience can make.

We’re using Minwax PolyShades Gloss Antique Walnut, and I really like how the rich wood tones contrast with the lighter metal walls. Add the black door hardware, and everything is starting to come together!

There’s something satisfying about seeing a plain unfinished door turn into a finished piece of the cabin.

Still more doors to go, but we’re making progress one project at a time! 😂

What do you think of the Antique Walnut finish?

Another project moving toward the finish line at the Blue Roof Cabin! 🔨🏡

The interior doors are getting some color, and I’m really happy with how this one turned out.

We started with a brand-new unfinished wood door, then used Minwax PolyShades Gloss Antique Walnut to bring out all that grain. After getting the color where we wanted it, we added a coat of Minwax Fast-Drying Polyurethane for some extra protection and a nice glossy finish.

The difference from the first picture to the finished door is pretty wild. That plain unfinished wood had a lot more character hiding in it than you’d think!

Now I just have to do the rest of them… 😂

Part 2 of how a coping miter fits. A coping miter allows for imperfect corners and house movement. Let me know what you think!

Here is Part 1 of a coping miter tutorial. Sorry for the bad audio and music. Let me know if you already knew what coping miters were if you use them.

Straight walls are apparently overrated at the Blue Roof Cabin. 😂

We finally tackled the flooring through the curved hallway and into the laundry/utility room. What looks like a simple little section turned into a whole lot of measuring, cutting, fitting… pulling it back out… trimming a little more… and fitting it again.

But the flooring is down and that curve turned out pretty darn good! 👌

Every time another section of bare subfloor disappears, this place feels a little less like a construction project and a little more like a cabin.

Next up: trim it out and keep knocking things off the list! 🔨🏡
