Haven Brook farm is a private, professional farm, home to one of New England’s only John and Josh Lyons Certified Natural Horsemanship trainers, Nicole Fradette, with Haven Brook Horsemanship. Her passion for finding the kindest, yet effective way possible to train, came when she was just 14, working with her new 4 yr. After her young gelding took off across the arena a few times while being exerc
ised on the lunge, she took the lunge line off and uncovered how to communicate using only body language to direct his movements and adjust his speed. From there she was hooked on this fascinating liberty work and began studying John Lyons' methods. Nic showed her young gelding locally as a teen, bringing home Day & Year End Green Horse Championships. Attending college in Kentucky, Nicole rode many horses for her school’s IHSA team and assisted her coach in schooling and teaching ridden classes, as well as participating in her IHSA team activities. Nic was accepted into John and Josh Lyons Certification program in 2012, starting a young Arabian filly and bringing along a mustang and one of Josh's fillies as well. Nicole prides herself on her natural ability to listen to what each horse has to say, adjust her training exercises to match what works for each horse's personality, physical and mental capability, while keeping the same important principles at the forefront. This, coupled with bringing each horse along at their own individual pace, without the use of excessive physical tools has proven most effective. Nic’s focus is building correct, detailed foundations both physically and mentally so horse and owner can move on to their desired disciplines happily and confidently.
