Vintage Teal Family Farmstead

Vintage Teal Family Farmstead Just a Texas family homestead in Weatherford trying to bring back some of the old ways to our lives. Watch our page and watch us grow!

We are a small family homestead in Weatherford, TX that is trying to learn and bring back the old ways of living to a world full of unknowns and a thinning system. We raise TAMUK rabbits, bees, dairy goats and lots of chickens on our farmstead and are slowly adding more as we go.

Clove (black and white with blue eyes) and Chai (tan and white) are looking for new hay.

They are unregisted sisters related by their sire (f4 mini lamancha) but not from the same mothers. Very bonded to each other and must go together.
They were both born 5/20/2025 and were bottle raised so they are super in your pocket and friendly. Clove’s mom is 3/4 lamancha, 1/4 alpine so Clove is a mini lamancha with 1/8 alpine. Chai is an f1 mini lamancha. Both have great milkers in their lines. Both disbudded.

Located south of Weatherford, off tin top near Mary’s Brazos cafe. PM for more info

Good gracious what a wild day it was yesterday! Neither of these girls were acting off at all. They both came for feed in the morning, both kept grazing through the day, both acting completely normal. We needed to do some hive inspections on the bees so we got all suited up and right when I cracked the first hive open, we looked over and saw ‘Nila had two babies! Then a little bit later, looked out the window and two more babies! Both doe/buck twins!

Three does down, one more to go!

So we made the mistake of not writing down when everyone was in heat while exposed to a buck this year. 🤦🏻‍♀️ oops. Lesson definitely learned for future breeding seasons.

That means that we have a month long kidding window and a lot of guessing games. We thought for SURE ‘Nila would be first to kid based on her bag filling first and her size but her sister suprised us with twins first! Meanwhile, ‘Nila is carrying on like normal getting wider by the day! 😂 Jasmine and Hazel are obviously still at least a couple weeks away but this girl has had me on my toes for several days now!

Come on ‘Nila! Give up the goods! Release the hostages! 😂

What a beautiful morning so far! Got these two out to make sure they are doing well and to get a better look at them. Turns out in the excitement of everything, i was wrong about the long ear baby being a girl! So we have two adorable baby boys! 😂

I never thought i would have to make this post but unfortunately, due to some medical issues that have come up over the last couple months, we have fallen a bit behind on several things around the farmstead.

We will be doing a reduction on some of the animals over the next few days to lighten our load during this stressful situation so we can focus on bringing our family unit back to full strength.

Please grant us some grace at this time as we are doing our best with what we are being given, and please pray for us. God bless you all.

PHEW! it’s been a brutal few days of preparing for their arrival and I’m still doing a few last minute things but we have just welcomed 81 cornish cross chicks to the farmstead. These guys will only be here for about 8 weeks until butcher day. If they all make it, we should have more than 400 pounds of meat to go into the freezer! They sure are cute at a day old though!

A big thanks to Freas Family Farm for going through so much to get them for us!
