Guess what Nash honey fans?! We have three hives making a bunch of ! And they're starting to cap it, right on schedule for our traditional 4th of July holiday harvest.

The rest are growing and some may make fall honey. The new (second newest now) swarm hive is making lots of honey, but it's honey they need for growing their hive and for the winter.

Today I found a new swarm had moved into one of my swarm traps, but TBD if they stay. I put the Queen (she's a beauty) back in that hive TWICE this morning, and added a frame of brood and a frame of honey to encourage them to settle in. We'll see how that goes. If they stay, that's ELEVEN active hives in the bee yard at the moment.

One of the retired Queen nucs that had just been struggling along has now re-Queened itself, so fingers crossed that one now gets its act together. If so, they have the potential to take off and require a full-size hive in the next few weeks.

2026 is looking like a good year for Nash Family Beeworks 🐝

From 5 hives to almost all equipment in use!

I got a swarm call last weekend and picked up a very nice size swarm. They stayed put and are busy building comb.

I have one full size hive and two nucs set up as swarm traps. So far no luck there. Still hoping.

Honey supers went on the hives today!

I made the last spring split at the very end of that project and the bees were not happy at that point, so no after photo 😂

🤞🏼 it’s looking like a good season so far.

This morning there were five and now there are eight! 😁👍🏼

Two hives got honey supers AND split. 😳

Ran out of equipment and had to go pick up more from storage. Ran out of steam 😂 and didn’t open one hive at all. One just didn’t have enough bees and brood for a split today. They need another couple of weeks.

And now let’s make some honey! 🍯🐝

It was a beautiful day in the bee yard. Can’t tell you how glad I am to have my gentle spring bees back. Fall and winter bees are not the most fun!
