Gentle and solid enough for a 64yr old #4 hobby roper to consistently catch a set of feet and just needs the final touches. Tux rides outside on the trails and crosses water. Very kind demeanor and 100% sound with no maintenance. Paid in to Future Fortunes.

🫒 𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑 🫒
𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟰 - 𝟭𝟱.𝟭𝗵𝗵 - 𝗚𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴

Oliver is a 12yr old, 15.1hh, gelding that knows what a true day of work is. From the panhandle of Texas to down south in the marshes, Oliver has been tried, tested, and used in every way a ranch horse could be. We sold Oliver two years ago to a man that’s had him ever since and has used him extensively on his ranch in South Texas. Oliver is only available due to personal reason of his owner and at not fault of his own.

Oliver is very straightforward to ride. He’ll go whatever pace you choose and will ride in between the bridle reins like one should. He picks up both leads easily, will swap ‘em if needed, and will shorten and slow his trot down to a little jog or pick it up and have the biggest ground covering trot you could possibly ride. He side passes both directions, turns around easily, and is always in tune with what your legs and hands are asking. Because of such, this is not a horse you throw your beginner kid on and say “have fun” because they won’t. Oliver is simply too broke and feely for the mistakes of a beginner and although he’s tolerant, there’s no need in both horse and rider getting frustrated. This is the horse you throw your handy niece or nephew on to go trot pastures with you or the guy that suddenly becomes blind when it comes to reading to cattle and set him in the gate on Oliver because Oliver knows the deal. This is not the horse you buy for your 70yr old grandmother to turn into a pampered pet to ride down the trail a few times a month. He’ll still be the same horse every time you go down the trail, but he’ll be bored and simply has too much work ethic for that lifestyle. He’s been ridden through downtown with no issues, has had numerous riders on him and rides the same for all, and is just an all around broke and honest individual.

Oliver has always stayed sound whether shod or barefoot, has no blemishes of any kind, loads and unloads like clock work, has never offered to buck/hump up/rear/etc., stands to be bathed with no silly business, and will ground tie for the farrier. Oliver is by far one of our most favorite horses because he truly is the same horse all the time and he’s a good one to add to your string before the summer and fall works kick off.

Oliver is hip 218 THIS SATURDAY at the Billings Livestock March Catalog in Billings, MT. Online bidding is available through Northern Livestock Video Auction. For any questions, please feel free to contact us here on Facebook or at 817-366-6123.

The joys of winter 🥶

– 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒 –
✨ 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑭𝑰𝑹𝑺𝑻
Digesting hay/forage produces ALOT of heat. This is called heat fermentation. More hay = more warmth.

✨𝑪𝑳𝑬𝑨𝑵, 𝑼𝑵𝑭𝑹𝑶𝒁𝑬𝑵 𝑾𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓
Horses drink less in the cold. And they’ll drink even less if the water is near freezing and dirty.

✨𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝑨𝑳𝑶𝑵𝑬
That’s actually your best indicator as to if their coat is doing its job or not. Snow not melting = body heat isn’t escaping.

Winter’s not forever, even if it feels like it these next few days down here in the South. 😆 Bundle up, keep the hay coming and the water warm, and we’ll be complaining about the heat again before you know it! ☀️
