I found the story behind this bourbon interesting, and wanted to have a couple bottles in the store for this 250th birthday.

Horse Soldier Bourbon was founded by the Green Berets (from the 5th Special Forces Group) who were among the first elite troops to ride into Afghanistan on horseback following the 9/11 attacks. Their story inspired the film 12 Strong and the America's Response Monument at Ground Zero.

The founders named their whiskey in honor of their legendary cavalry-style mission. The connection to that historic event runs deep, as the molds for the bourbon bottles were forged using actual steel retrieved from the World Trade Center ruins. Every bottle also features a physical horseshoe nail pressed into the glass.

Transitioning from military service to distilling, the veteran team created American Freedom Distillery to craft award-winning American bourbons.
