One of the most common reasons lavender struggles in the garden has nothing to do with fertilizer, pests, or sunlight.
It's drainage.
Lavender prefers soil that drains quickly and it doesn't like sitting in wet conditions for long periods of time. Even healthy plants can decline if their roots remain too wet.
If you're planting lavender this season, choose the sunniest location you can find and make sure excess water can move away from the root zone.
A little extra attention to drainage often makes the difference between a lavender plant that merely survives and one that thrives.
Have you ever tried growing lavender? I'd love to hear what has worked (or not worked) for you.
