Many of our rare and Heritage lines date back to the early 1900s, and quite a few can be found on The Livestock Conservancy’s Conservation Priority List.

Our small and experienced team takes great pride in breeding our historic lines while preserving the McMurray Hatchery legacy, which began over a century ago.

Our first batch of 2026 birds are the big red broilers and they DID NOT disappoint. This was probably one of the most consistent in weight batches we’ve grown. Most birds were consistently between 5 and 6.9 lbs. With the drought, we butchered them at 14 weeks instead of 12 weeks. They would’ve come in consistently between the 3-5 lb mark at 12 weeks though, which is a normal sized broiler for many.

You may wonder why we don't hatch every breed all season long? Well, it takes six months to raise a hen to laying age, so in order to have flocks ready to lay next January and February we have to start working on our breeding flocks for next year now.
