Many craft whiskey distilleries have emerged over the past couple decades, but one that stands apart from the rest is Castle & Key. 🥃

The distillery holds the distinction of being built on the grounds of the old E.H. Taylor castle and distillery, a name of immense import to the legacy of bourbon. The skilled craftspeople of Castle & Key now distill vodka, gin, rye, and certainly bourbon on this hallowed ground of American whiskey.

We at BayTowne Wine & Spirits have established a strong connection to these producers, and we’re proud to showcase their Kentucky-made spirits here in-store.

Jordan Tycer has been in the food & beverage industry for over 20 years and has been an instrumental part of the Castle & Key team since 2019. His spirits expertise, mixological skill, and compelling storytelling ability make him one of the distillery’s best representative assets.

📅 He’ll be pouring samples and sharing knowledge in the BayTowne tasting room on Thursday, August 13th.

🍹 Recipe
• 1.5 oz Mhoba The Shaldon
• 0.5 oz Fernet Branca
• 0.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
• 0.5 oz Rich Simple Syrup
• 3 dashes Angostura Bitters

Shake with ice, strain into a chilled glass half-filled with Coke, and garnish with a lime wedge.

This tasting explores the bright, energetic world of carbonic and carbonic-inspired reds—the wines that prove summer doesn’t belong exclusively to white and rosé. Along the way we’ll use one of Drew’s favorite scientific rabbit holes, the Drunken Monkey Hypothesis, as a surprisingly useful way to think about why these wines feel so instinctively satisfying. The most exciting two minutes of the year are almost upon us, make sure to snag any last-minute celebratory bottles before the gates open up and the horses are off 📣⏳
