A-Bear-Acres

A-Bear-Acres A-Bear-Acres is a Veteran owned family farm owned and operated by Ted & Carrie Ann Hebert (A-Bear) Hi! He is also our resident pet feeder. Well...most everything.

We are Ted and Carrie Ann Hebert, owners of A-Bear-Acres, LLC in beautiful Webster, NH. We are retired from the USAF after 29 years and after living all over the states and Europe, we have planted ourselves here. Ted currently teaches JROTC at Pinkerton Academy and is our family Bee Keeper, You Tube mechanic and all around handy man. I currently homeschool the 2 youngest of our 5 children and pla

nt tons of things where Ted is not allowed to mow...which is almost everywhere. We have been blessed with 4 handsome sons and 1 beautiful daughter. Chance, our oldest, married the love of his life, Hope and they have blessed us with our first grandchild, Basil Ruth...Ohhhh, the joy!!! Our beautiful daughter, Bryce Ann has graduated from college, spent some time overseas and now is working on how to get back overseas. Tanner has just graduated high school and has started at the Harmel Academy of Trades in Michigan and look forward to working with his hands. Brayden has just started high school and looks forward to this year's basketball team and Remmy is starting the 5th grade and loves all things video games. We have dreamed of having a small farm for the past 20 years and we are finally here! It took a few years before we could really call it a farm...and it still might be a stretch to call it that. It's more like plant frenzy with bees and animals thrown in and whatever project strikes my fancy for that year. However, we have managed to pull together some basic staples of production around here. Our honey is delicious...though it has not been the most dependable of harvests. Our herbal teas are delicious and so good for you! We use herbs to make tinctures, balms and salves for all manner of things. I truly believe that God has given us everything we need for food and medicine in our own backyards. I still love my nurse practitioner. Shout out to Kelly from Family Tree Health in Warner! We all love her. But I digress. We raise chickens for eggs, goats and hope to be making cheese this spring, and soon will be raising meat rabbits. I also enjoy crafting essential oil blends personal care and home care. We are always coming up with new projects and ideas. I think seedlings may be in the mix next spring as Ted is busy getting my hoop house set up. If you come to visit you will be welcomed by our cacaphony of dogs and cats. Bruno, the wondermut is our 6 year old Great Pyrenese, the newest of our bunch. He is a gentle giant. However, he is not a livestock guardian dog as he ate 1 and tried for 2 more of my chickens...poor things are stuck in the coop now. Della is our 3 year old shepherd, hound dog mix...she is goofy and sweet...and loves to bark...sorry Susan (my neighbor ;-) Chloe, our 11 year old boxer is our little old lady, but she still has some pep in her step. The three kitties, Misty, Mittens and Puter are always on the prowl. It is never dull at the Hebert house! A-Bear-Acres is a busy, often chaotic, and mostly joyful place. And it is alway home. We love it here and hope you will enjoy following us on our adventures.

It’s pretty sweet as I may have used a tad too much of our maple syrup, but should be really tasty with sparkling water!

Where to start? It has been 1 year, 5 months, and 16 days--- a total of 532 days since Alison’s accident... The first thing we all want to say is thank you to anyone who has kept Alison in their prayers and in the forefront of their minds, despite not hearing updates.Thank you to all that have come to visit, even if its just for a few minutes to say Hi, it means a lot to Alison...it's been a very tough road with lots of tears but also lots of progress. There are SO many updates on Alison’s journey to recovery that it’s a challenge to know where to begin. It is so very difficult to paint a clear picture of what it’s like living through a TBI recovery journey, we are all still fighting through the pain and loss… we can’t even begin to imagine how Alison must feel. It takes weeks or months for suttle movements to turn into purposeful movement that many doctors told us would never happen... They were WRONG, we told them that they don't know Alison. There have been days with extreme highs and absolute miracles and there have been days where she has felt completely defeated and has been very sick. Despite the almost daily nausea and vomiting currently, she continues to push through. She pushes through her therapy at home and at Project Walk and is gaining more and more movement, especially on her right side:), this is because Alison is a fighter… there was even one day when she arrived to Project Walk and she vomited and was in tears…we said to her, it’s OK to go home and rest, she wanted to push through and she had more miracles unfold… Alison is courageous, she is determined to get better, and has continued to hold tightly to hope . She is also surrounded by love and we know that love heals. She has her tough mom pushing her to her limits, her patient dad and her proud and loving brother. She has her sweet and loving Grammy, her devoted cousins and faithful family by her side. Her best friend Jaymie has never let her down and still comes to show Alison her love. She has an amazing new nurse, Mary - her nickname is Blessed Mary. She is dedicated to Alison’s comfort and healing and is an extremely hard worker. Alison’s home OT, PT, and Speech therapist and all Alisons peeps at Project Walk believe in her and push her to the be the best version of herself. She has made some new friends through Project Walk that have helped to give her hope in maintaining friendships and being able to open herself up again... And we still listen to Morgan Wallen every night while falling asleep and all night:)

Currently, Alison has pneumonia and has been very tired the past few days. She had some vomiting that led to aspiration and we're working closely with g.i., our primary care, and many other doctors to get to the bottom of this. We have spent the past few days watching movies and laying low and shes getting much better. Next week we go to Vermont to have her right eye evaluated and possibly have a glass contact that covers her eye, correcting her vision, and that will be able to protect her eye with constant lubrication. Her depression and anxiety still cripple her daily and she misses her past life… she misses doing the things that most 16 year old girls do during the summer— hang out with her friends, go to the beach , laying poolside, and Alison REALLY misses riding her dirtbike. We have got out a couple Sundays to watch Evan ride his new bike and this is Alison‘s highlight of the week, she loves her brother soooooooo much!!! We hope to get back to some NESC races soon if Evan starts racing again. Thank you to our NESC family that has given us so much support!!! We are going to try and be at the Maine Event at MX207 this year.

What we would like to ask is that you continue to pray for her because we have struggled with our faith…please pray that the cause of her daily nausea and frequent vomiting is determined… we are working on determining the cause but it is still unknown.

We have chosen a couple photos of Alison that was taken last week at Project Walk, she's as beautiful as ever🧡 Her hair is growing back beautifully too:))

Aloe Vera-How do you get rid of Aloin?

06/11/2024

Aloe Vera…What is Aloin and what does aloin do?? Aloin can cause skin irritation m, which is not good if you want to use the aloe for skin care and it can cause severe digestive issues. Check out the video and read this excerpt on Aloin from Wikipedia.

“Once ingested, aloin increases peristaltic contractions in the colon, which induces bowel movements. Aloin also prevents the colon from re-absorbing water from the gastrointestinal tract, which leads to softer stools.[6] This effect is caused by aloin's opening of chloride channels of the colonic membrane. In higher doses, these effects may lead to electrolyte imbalance, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, which are common side-effects of the drug.[6] Because aloin can potentially cause uterine contractions, pregnant women should avoid ingesting aloe products containing aloin in more than trace amounts.[7]”
