2 am. 2 brothers. They've been up since 4 am. The 14-year-old kid brother's planted 200 acres of soybeans today on his own.
The 17-year-old's bounced across fields all day, cultivating up a seed bed for those seeds.
Their Dad's still going on the home farm, out underneath a milk moon, on an open tractor, eating dirt up and down the field, trying to get the last of the corn seeds into the ground. When I took a warm bowl out to him, his hands were bone cold.

And when the big brother got caught in a bit of damp at the edge of the woods? His kid brother hauled over to that farm and pulled him out in the middle of the night.

Their old ma drove the pick-up out to check on her boys, stood in the dark and nodded them on. Boy-men. Brothers. Gettin' 'er done with their dad. Doing whatever it takes to keep the other one going, and get this crop in the ground.

People can say what they want about teenagers & boys these days. But there are more than a few good men.
There's a whole generation of young men who will go till it's done, work 24 hour days till it's finished, give each other a hand so no one get's left behind.

When you teach a kid how to work hard, you teach him how to work through whatever's hard.

The alarm goes here for these boys, and their sisters, again at 4 am, hogs needing to be fed.
