Things are coming along in Dry Bottom😀 we took a massive hit on our pumpkin crop not long after planting due to flooding, but through prayer, replanting, and lots of hard work things are shaping up! Our Fall Fun on the Farm will start a little later than usual, but will start September 30th. More to come on that next week😁

In addition to our fall pumpkin patch and corn maze hopefully we will be able to offer a few fall fresh veggies😁 in about 2-3 weeks I’ll be planting fall tomatoes, yellow squash, a little bit of zucchini, and all your fall favorite greens😁 if you’d like to get your hands on fall tomato plants I’ll have 70-80 plants available in 2-3 weeks for sale $1 per plant. They are a determinate bush tomato called red snapper.
🌽 We will NOT be selling anymore sweetcorn or field corn this season! Thank you to everyone who has supported us this summer and we look forward to more good corn next year😁 In the mean time stay tuned to what else we have growing on around the farm😀
🌽 Reluctantly we’ve decided to cancel corn picking for this morning due to the field conditions plus steady rain this morning. Sweet corn is gone for the season, but we may try to pick field corn Monday as I believe it will still be good quality. I’ll update on that Sunday night! Sorry for any inconvenience! 🌽

It has been a BATTLE all morning in the mud, and we sadly won’t have near as much corn as I’d like, but we will have sweet corn and a VERY LIMITED quantity of field corn! This field went 2ft under water yesterday for a few hours and is very sloppy picking!
Unfortunately we will NOT be selling corn today due to the rain! We will be picking field and sweet corn tomorrow and plan to be in Ackerman @ 12pm tomorrow (Friday) with LOTS of corn!

we will start selling out of the last field THIS Saturday morning July 8th at 7am at the Ackerman 4 way stop! We plan to pick until Thursday-Friday of the next week! $6 per dozen $20 per sack of 50 ears. This sweet corn is NON GMO meaning it has NOT been genetically modified to resist round up and worms. It also has not been sprayed with insecticide and WILL have worms in the tips of ears.

🎃 Pumpkin Planting 2023 is in the books finally🎃
This pumpkin planting has been full of broke down equipment, juggling corn picking and selling, a couple of late nights, stress, tears, and so much more that goes into farming. Through it all the good Lord provided us a window of opportunity to get them planted! A little later than we typically plant, but this MS heat will push them right along no problem. 30 varieties and over 20,000 seeds.

Corn Education: Field corn turns to starch very fast compared to sweet corn so I try to start picking just as soon as it’s ready to get 3-4 days of picking out of it.This type of corn is great for making cream corn, or frying. Field corn is cheaper than sweet at $5 per dozen or $40 per 100 ears.

Y’all we have so many nice pumpkins at our stand with some great prices! There’s SO MUCH more where this came from too! We still have a lot of nice ones to gather from our fields!
We’re ✨zipping✨ right on into the weekend, and there’s no better place to spend it than at Dry Bottom Farms and Nursery! This weekend we will have an even larger selection of pumpkins, cornstalks, and hay bales at the pumpkin stand than we had last weekend. We will also be doing hayrides, corn maze, corn pit, and kids’ games all day on both Saturday and Sunday! Our hours will be from 10:00-6:00 on Saturday and 1:00-5:00 on Sunday. We’re located at 500 West Harris Road Weir, MS 39772. $5 admission will be charged for each person coming to the farm for games and a hayride. No admission will be charged if you’re only coming to buy fall decor. We can’t wait to see you here on the farm! 🍁🎃🍂
