Hay season is one of our favorite times of the year. Long days, plenty of hard work, and another step toward caring for our cattle through the seasons ahead. We wouldn’t trade these summer days on the farm for anything.

Today was a great day at Hickory Hollow Farms as we welcomed the Keokuk/Washington Counties Youth Ag Field Trip Group!

We had the opportunity to talk cattle, share our farming practices, and answer questions from a fantastic group of students. Their curiosity, enthusiasm, and thoughtful questions made for an enjoyable and rewarding day on the farm.

We’re always grateful for the chance to connect the next generation with agriculture and help them learn where their food comes from. Thanks for spending the day with us—we hope to see you back on the farm again soon! 🐄🌱

From the history of our farm to the everyday work that keeps it running, we loved sharing a little piece of Hickory Hollow Farms with the Clear Creek Amana Survey of the Animal Industry class!

Days these remind us why agriculture matters so much. Being able to educate, connect, and share our passion for farming with students interested in the industry is something we never take for granted. Thanks for coming out and spending the day with us! 🐄🌾

There’s something bigger than just showing cattle on days like this.

We had the opportunity to host the Mid-Prairie 8th grade class out at Hickory Hollow Farms, giving them a firsthand look at what goes into raising our Black Angus. But more importantly, it’s about connection — connecting the next generation to where their food comes from, to the land, and to the work behind it all.

In a world that’s becoming more disconnected from agriculture, moments like this matter. They give students a chance to ask questions, learn, and truly understand the care, responsibility, and pride that go into farming.

These tours aren’t just about today — they’re about shaping tomorrow. Whether it sparks a future in agriculture or simply builds a deeper appreciation, we believe it’s worth every minute.

We’re grateful for the chance to share our story and invest in the next generation.
