Spring is so close! I've been seeing evidence all around. And at the same time, Winter tries its best to keep a cold hold...but it'll have to "goodbye" soon!

Here's some pictures of the flowers we started this week. Yes, Delphinium, more statice, lupine, and digitalis!

Start of the week update, the seeds are germinating!

Germination is the word. The process where the dormant seed takes on metabolic activity and grows into a seedling. Triggered by oxygen, water, and proper temperature.

SEED STARTING!...HAS ARRIVED! This time of year is truly amazing...I know, I know.. I'm not forgetting how much we(SE Iowans) all are so desperate for Spring to arrive and stay! But, what is so amazing is starting little seeds and watching them develop as the last days of Winter linger on.

Watching the new life start from such a small seed is really truly exhilarating in many ways.

We got some vegetable seeds started, like tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, and basil(for fun).

And yes, we started some flowers including snapdragons, statice, feverfew, and dianthus to name a few.

We will take you along for the journey, from seed to harvest!

WINTER FLOWERS: (see below) What do I mean by that? Here at Gan Flower Farm and Gardens we are in the middle of Winter...not our growing season outdoors. But, we still like creating beautiful things with flowers! That means we utilize fresh flowers from other regions where they are able to keep the freshness going.

We are soooo looking forward to the soon approaching growing season. We are on the verge of seed starting and gathering our final grow list for the season.

TULIPS 2026: Excited to share with you all! We will be trying out a few tulip varieties for Spring of 2026. We have the bulbs, and getting them in their beds for the Winter.
Already hard to wait till Spring...

Jack Frost has been making his visit in the region. The growing season is at its end...that's how it goes here in SE Iowa.
Time to clean out flower beds, dig dahlia tubers, and get the ready for next season.
There's some exciting new endeavors for season 2026 in the works! Stay posted!
