This is what we call a pullet egg. A pullet is a young hen. What they are are the first eggs that a laying hen lays. Basically their practice eggs. They are completely just like regular eggs but just a tad smaller as they are just beginning to lay. They’re really cute little eggs and are an exciting find with new hens. At first it can be like a real life Easter egg hunt since you don’t always find them in the nest boxes where they’re supposed to be. But eventually they figure things out, start laying bigger eggs, and discover the nest boxes are pretty cool places to lay those eggs.

We know…… store bought eggs just weren’t the same this winter.

Thankfully, the girls have picked up the slack and are laying great again!

Pasture-raised eggs are back in stock and ready for you again 🥚
