And, just like that kidding season is over and milking season is underway.

As expected, Cow delivered her kids in the middle of night. Somewhere around 2:30 am, a big buckling arrived. Why do the big boys always come first with first time moms? Anyway, healthy and active. Once momma had him mostly clean she delivered a beautiful doeling.

These babies have a very short mom. They both have immediately learned to nurse lying down.

Introducing Angus and his sister (to be named after my nap).

Wendy decided that the first day of time change was a good day to kid.

One of the most difficult things for me is to be patient and let the kidding happen as normally as possible. She was restless at 5am (which is technically 4am). Contractions came slow at first (as they tend to do) finally increasing in number and intensity till around 3:30pm when she pushed out one little doeling, followed almost immediately by another one. Then 20ish minutes later, a small buckling joined the sisters. There was meconium in two sacs even tho Wendy was on day 146.

The kids had a bit of trouble finding the milk bar but were finally successful.

I shall not have trouble going to bed at the changed hour tonight.

Moonbeam's kidding on Wednesday was not a picture perfect one but it was a successful one.

She delivered an adorable little doeling first. But then the next two were attempting to come at the same time and neither one was moving into the birth canal. This required some manual maneuvering to finally get the next one out. Finally the last one also required some assistance due to his size.

Momma and babies are doing well. Baby springs are coming in really nicely.

Introducing Venus, Mars, and Jupiter.

While yesterday started rough, it ended well.

I've been watching first time momma, Salty, carefully. Ultrasound indicated 2 kids but she didn't seem to get very big. I was concerned she had a large single kid in there. Late evening she was in active labor. It was a text book perfect kidding. Kid 1 - a buckling - presented head and hooves. We had to get started cleaning him as in less than 5 minutes kid 2 - a doeling - appeared, also head and hooves. No assistance from me to deliver either one. We partially cleaned them up because momma had no idea what they were.

Salty stomped her little hoof and lowered her head at the intruders initially. Slowly, instinct took over and she figured out they were hers. By the time we cleaned up and decided to call it a night, both kids found the milk bar and Salty was intent on taking care of them.

Introducing Coriander (Andy) and Nutmeg.

It's not an outcome we'd want but is always a possibility.

Coral kidded early this morning. She delivered a little gold buckling first. Immediately after him came a red buckling who had already passed. There was no blood in his cord so I'm guessing he died a day or more ago. After a short time, she then delivered a doeling who had been gone long enough to begin breaking down. Heartbreaking for momma and us. I removed the doeling quickly but allowed her to partially clean the buckling for understanding.

Momma is not out of the woods yet. She'll need some heavy antibotics and we'll have to keep a close eye on her. Little guy has found the over full milk bar, is cleaned off, has a loud voice, and is moving around well.

Introducing, Jeff.

First, we are so very thankful for the instructors and students at the Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine.

After a long day in the barn yesterday with little progress in her labor, we elected to take Frenchie to OSU due to concerns that there was something going on that I don't have the skill set to administer. Once there, pregnancy toxemia was confirmed and she went for an immediate c-section where they delivered four kids. They all stayed overnight for careful attention but are now home.

Introducing Curly, Larry, Moe, and Belle.
