Kirbey McConnell and Rowan Shelton attended the prestigious Washington Leadership Conference (WLC) last week. They were able to tour George Washington's Mount Vernon, participate in a night tour of Washington D.C., visit the U.S. Capitol, tour Arlington Cemetery and visit the Smithsonian Museum. In addition, Kirbey and Rowan attended over ten leadership session to enhance their local, state, national and global leadership skills. We are proud of you and glad you are home safe!!

Wellston senior FFA members are having a great summer so far! Audrey Fish is having tons of success on the rodeo circuit, Kirbey and Rowan are off to Washington D.C. to attend WLC and Case Priddy is working for a guided fishing service in Alaska and helped a client real in this 260 pound Halibut last week!!

Wellston senior FFA member Rowan Shelton just wrapped up a week in Stillwater at the OSU Future AGED Teachers Academy. Rowan was able to gain first hand knowledge by learning more about the Agricultural Education program at Oklahoma State, tour outstanding Ag programs across the state, network with peers and current agricultural educators and even teach a lesson! We are proud of you Rowan!

Helpful information about the New World Screw Worm.

The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry continues to closely monitor the confirmed cases of New World Screwworm in Texas and New Mexico. It is important to begin extra monitoring of livestock, pets and captive wildlife for this invasive pest.

It is important to note that this does not impact food and the food supply is safe.

The Animal Science class spent their final day of class before finals week touring Lucky 13 Show lambs. JJ and Kim Rackley spoke to the class about artificial insemination, embryo transfer and IVF in sheep as well as lambing and herd management. Thank you Kim and JJ for taking time out of your day to help educate our students!

The 100th Oklahoma State FFA Convention has come to an end. We had a great time and are so proud of everything our students have accomplished this year!

Day 1:
Hayden Green, Kaden James, Wylee Terrell, Gauge McLin and Jett Golightly received their career passports.

Rowan Shelton received her scholarship for Future Ag Ed Teacher Academy

Kaden James received a $2000 Tulsa State Fair scholarship

Mr. Coulson received the teacher mentor award

Mr. Kevin Wallace received the Honorary State FFA Degree

Day 2:
Jaxon Bays and Parker Brockman participated in Courtesy Corps

Kirbey McConnell received the Washington Leadership Conference scholarship

Kaden James received his medal for 3rd Place in the state Extemporaneous speaking division

Hayden Green was announced as 3rd Place in the Swine Production Placement proficiency area

Kaden James, Jett Golightly and Hayden Green received the State FFA Degree

Today during session four (8:15 this morning) Kirbey McConnell will be receiving her WLC scholarship and Kaden James will receive his state speech medal. At 1:15, Hayden Green will receive his Swine Production proficiency award and at 6:30, Jett, Hayden and Kaden will receive the prestigious State FFA Degree.
