A big thank you to Bill and the crew at Southern Gold Sires! We’re excited to have this one land in Campbellsburg.

Our family truly appreciates everyone that stopped at the farm to look at him, called, or texted. It’s fun to discuss one put together like this!

The Draft Entry #2

We used Level Up pretty extensively for summer born litters last year before selling him in The Draft with the goal of putting together a pretty robust replacement gilt pen. We accomplished that and also came away with a few really intriguing boars we’re excited to offer in the Draft. Here’s the second:

—————-

13-10 // Light Cross Boar
Level Up x Family Tradition x Cruel

We took Level Up to a couple of our dark cross sows with the intention of making some purebred influence blues to put back in the herd. If you're looking for a true breeding boar, he's the one one too take to your crossbred sows that need a little more. A huge center body with the footsize and more of his sire, his picture truly doesn't do him justice. A few years ago, dad went down to Joe Lancaster's with the intention of bringing home a Hamp female. He unloaded 5 crossbred gilts from the trailer instead, but they've made a lasting mark on our herd. The mother of this boar would be one of those 5. Her and her sister have produced quite a few of the crosses we now have in our herd and the Champion Crossbred Gilt and Champion Purebred Influence Gilt at the '24 Fall Exposition that would've sold to Mike F**g.

We think these boars offer a ton in the way of predictability and showcase the faith we put in the genetic foundation we've built here in Wellsville.

The Draft Entry #1

We used Level Up pretty extensively for summer born litters last year before selling him in The Draft with the goal of putting together a pretty robust replacement gilt pen. We accomplished that and also came away with a few really intriguing boars we’re excited to offer in the Draft. Here’s the first of two:

—————-
17-8 // Yorkshire Boar
Level Up x Reality Check

In a litter of predominantly gilts, this guy was meant to stand out. With so many similarities to his sire, he adds a nickle more flexibility on the move, extension up front and through the center portion of his body while keeping the stoutness about his head we loved about his dad. The bottom side of his pedigree reads Reality Check x True Grit. The littermate to this sow would have been the Reserve Champion York Gilt at the '24 Fall Exposition that went to Chuck Real.

We think these boars offer a ton in the way of predictability and showcase the faith we put in the genetic foundation we've built here in Wellsville.

🔋 THANK YOU 🔋

As sale season starts to wind down, we just want to take a minute to say how thankful we are for the support of so many incredible families!

The days are long, but from the moment farrowing starts to the minute pigs leave the barn for their new homes, this time of year reminds us exactly why we love what we do. None of it would mean nearly as much without the kids, families, and supporters who believe in our program.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the farm, called, texted, bid, or trusted us with one of your projects this year. Seeing familiar faces come back year after year — and getting to meet so many new families — is what makes this industry so special to us.

We truly appreciate the opportunity to work with each of you and can’t wait to watch as shows begin this spring. Be sure to keep us posted on progress and pictures along the way!

If you're still on the hunt for your summer/fall project, we have January pigs in the barn available privately with Februarys coming in behind them soon.

We’re excited about what’s ahead and we’re always here if you need anything.

LOT FEATURE: The 26 Litter Berks
Selling March 5: auctions.thewendtgroup.com/auction/31083

If there's a sow that's made the biggest impact on our small but mighty Berk herd, it's the mother of this litter. In her first litter she raised the Champion Berk and High Selling $8,500 Berk Gilt at the Fall Classic. Since then, she's went on to raise a majority of the Berk sows in our herd. We don't let go of many of her gilts, so here's your chance.

26 Litter: Chain Link x Bad Medicine
