As some of you know, and I am sure many of you have guessed, (based off of my chosen farm stand decorations)- I am a bit of a history buff.

For some time now, I have been meaning to sort through a box of old photographs that document the history of our property, formerly named Malden Brook Farm. So, this past rainy Sunday, I picked out my favorites, and wanted to share them with you all.

Most of these photos are close to 100 years old, and it was very interesting to see how much our landscape truly changes over time.

Malden Brook farm was started by the Surabian family in the year 1898 after they immigrated from Armenia. They were known throughout New England for their award winning Aryshire dairy cattle, and also raised an abundant mix of market vegetables. The field where the farm stand sits today was once lined with rows of sweet corn!

The collage of photos above, in my mind, truly resembles the hard work, pride, and dedication that has always persisted on family farms across the country.

Supporting local agriculture is more important now than ever, and I cannot thank you all enough for your business and kind words.

It will take time, but my ultimate goal is to restore this property to its former glory, and hopefully my grandkids can sort through a box of old photos just like this one some day, only they will be able to put family names to faces, and continue to pass on Stones Throw Farm to future generations.

Last week I was able to attend my first Worcester County Farm Bureau Legislative Breakfast hosted by Red Apple Farm

These events are very important, because they provide a direct link between farmers, members of Congress, and State Representatives from across our region.

There were several important topics discussed, and I was most happy to catch up with everybody in the same room, before the hustle and bustle of late spring on New England farms gets started in the weeks to come!

With the start of the 2026 season on the horizon, I had to share this very well written post from our friends over in Littleton, Ma

Make sure to support your local farmer this year, I promise it does not go unnoticed!

We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend!

Truth Hurts.
Community Members will talk about the farms and reference how nice it is to have them. But in reality most forget about them when it is time to complete their grocery shopping. There isn't enough direct support going to the small farms that are still holding on within the communities that you call home.
It is why we keep losing farms.
And that may sometimes mean one in your own back yard; the one you always pass by when you are heading to the grocery store. We know you look out the window and are thankful for the view. It is one of the many reasons why you live here: there is still open landscapes, tilled fields and cows!

There is a lot of brands you are devoted to and a lot of big businesses you support. The farms within your community need you too.

Without them, there is no local food supply.
Without them, there is no preserved landscape.
Without them, there is no food producers, nor food caretakers.
And when they are gone, they do not come back.

All of this sun and warm weather have us looking forward to our transition to regular season hours! ☀️

However, we still have a couple more weekends to get through before we are back to the full time swing of things.

With that being said, we highly suggest taking a ride to our farm stand this weekend to check out our selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and MUCH more! (You’ll be glad you did! 😀)
