2026 poultry season in a wrap! Nearly 850 lbs of meat in the freezers and another season of improving soil quality on the farm.

Thanks for listening!

In some magical fashion, we’ve found ourselves on the eve of August. There is so much happening on the farm and in the apothecary this time of year. We’re grateful for a rainy day to sit down and catch up on all of the other to-dos that start to go to the wayside midst the transplanting, harvesting, drying and medicine-making. Summer is so fleeting here in Vermont, and we’re constantly reminding ourselves to slow down to soak it all in. We hope that wherever you are on the globe that you are honoring slowness and joy, too.

The herb fields are brimming with life right now. The calendula is blooming, the last chamomile harvests are coming in, currants have been gratefully munched on, and we’re almost ready for a second lemon balm harvest. Our neighbor’s bees have been serenading us with a vibrational sound bath as they dance about the tulsi beds. And, our seasonal flock of pastured raised chickens are here adding nourishment to the soils and inspiring some feathered fun. When we let our brains release the stress of running a business, we are stupefied that this abundance is really all here to witness and participate in.

Sarah’s hands have been dutifully busy in the apothecary, making gallons upon gallons of tinctures and herbal oils, mountains of tea blends, and new custom projects for fellow businesses. Nathan’s been up to his own herbal alchemy with the launch of a new herbal kombucha, which we’ve been serving up at the Burlington Farmers Market on Saturdays with rave reviews (Real life example: “Oh this is a hell yes!”).

Our beloved Betty’s Balm in the making, with cayenne and St John’s Wort lending to the beautiful ruby hue the oil base takes on. Zero filter here. A clue to a well-done infusion for this warming and soothing muscle and joint rub.

For us, product quality is very much rooted in the sensory experience. Taste, color, aroma, texture - all key signals to ensuring we formulate with intention and effectiveness in mind.

Your herbal products should have something to say, just like the plants they come from. 🌿
