We divided the two litters into grow-out cages by s*x this morning. Right now we have 11 females and 7 males. Whether that is completely accurate or not is yet to be seen. We will do another check and weigh in a week or two and see what we end up with. :)

Springtime and there are babies everywhere! Esther (Californian) recently kindled 13 babies. Frieda (NZW) kindled 5 in her very first litter. We also had a surprise litter from the new Cali we picked up a month ago...out of the 8 she had on the wire, 2 are still alive and are fostered by Frieda. I have to say I am loving the new "maternity" cages we built. So much more room for the moms.
The first set of meat chicks are 4 weeks old and today was warm enough to put them out on grass! We also picked up 15 more broilers and 6 Americanas to boost our egg-laying flock. There are duck eggs in the incubator as well, they should be hatching either next week (if they are from my grey duck) or the week after if they are Muscovy eggs.
