Dear Homeowners,
As many of you have noticed, there has been a recent increase in the law enforcement presence in our neighborhood. After speaking with a local police officer, I have learned that the extra patrols are due to several waves of vehicle robberies. Only a few nights ago, there were multiple break-ins in a single night. So far, the police have not made any arrests, and have asked that we keep a watchful eye and immediately report anything strange or out of place. For instance, if you see anyone walking between houses late at night, strangers parked in cars for long periods of time, individuals repeatedly driving up and down the street, etc., call the police right away. They are looking for any and all information and are eager to help end this assault on the peace in our neighborhood. So keep an eye out, and in the meantime, please take the following precautions:
- Turn on all outdoor lights (front porch, side lights, back porch, etc.). Keeping the exterior well-lit will enable us to look out for each other and also acts as a deterrent for potential theft or vandalism.
- Keep vehicle doors locked and windows closed. If your vehicle has an anti-theft system, make sure you arm it before going inside.
- Do not leave valuables or personal items in plain site in your vehicles. This includes computers, computer bags, smart phones, iPods, tablet devices and cases, even the chargers. Leaving these items in plain sight will make your vehicle an easy target.
I know this is difficult for all of us, especially around the holidays. We all want to feel safe in our lovely neighborhood. But by sticking together, staying smart, and keeping an open communication line with the police, we will put a stop to this and regain our peace of mind. If you have any questions, concerns, or information to report, please feel free to contact the police department. They are here to help!
Happy Holidays,
Amanda Pisano
