Fun discoveries on the farm! š¢š§”
Compost Pile Surprise
Jeremy from the Farm at Love Farms in Dennis discovered a Common Snapping Turtle laying eggs in an active compost pile and contacted Wild Care. Because the pile was being used, staff wildlife rehabilitator Chelsea Peck safely removed 44 eggs for incubation at Wild Care. Soon after, another nest containing 32 eggs was found. Chelsea retrieved those eggs. She also guided Jeremy into re-nesting future nests on-site so they can continue developing in the wild.
In total: 76 snapping turtle eggs rescued and given a chance to hatch. š¢š„
